2. ABOUT MY FILM
• The film is called ‘This thing of ours’ - in reference to how in the mafia it isn’t actually
called the mafia, it is called ’Cosa Nostra’ which is Italian and translates into ‘This thing
of ours’
• The main actor will be Ray Liotta and the other actor who is 100% being in is Joe Pesci,
who’ve appeared in many films that are synonymous with the mob, his most notable
film is of course Goodfellas, what the fuck is so funny about me?
• There will be other actors too, such as Aaron Paul who is notable for playing Jesse
Pinkman from Breaking Bad which shows that he can play a criminal so he can be an
associate (he’ll be a mafia associate in this film). And the rest of them will be not well
known people who will play the roles of the members of the opposing gangs.
• The plot of TTOF will be centered around a fictional mob war, however it will be set in
the real life place of Naples, Italy. It will center around Liotta and Pesci as they will be
playing gang leaders who want to wipe one another out. Liotta will be head of the
‘Torres clan’ and Pesci will be head of the ‘Di Matteo clan’ gang (clans are just a group
of close people but it can be called a clan or gang etc). Ray Liotta will be playing the
character ‘Maranzano Torres’ and Pesci will play the character ‘Gonzalo Di Matteo’,
speaking of Paul, he will be playing the character of ‘Tony Papadillo’ an American born
associate of the ‘Torres clan’ who is working as a police informant, and he is on a
journey to take down the Torres clan, but also trying to keep himself alive because if
Torres found out he was an informant, Tony would certainly be killed.
• The genre would be action/drama because in this war there is quite a lot of action to
keep up with. And my audience will be catered around people who are fans of
gangster films like Goodfellas and The Godfather.

3. OPENING SCENE
• The camera pans over the whole of Naples, and there is a ‘cut in’ it zooms into a small
Naples street where a young man has been murdered, it turns out he was a member of
the Torres clan, in the opening minutes we see the Torres clan piece together the
perpetrators of the murder, they eventually put the evidence together and find out,
the Di Matteo clan. They hit back more violently by murdering 6 people in the Di
Matteo clans territory, the war is on.
• The two leaders, Maranzano Torres and Gonzalo Di Matteo talk it out, they want to
come to peace as war is bad for both parties, although Torres isn’t having it as it was
his a member of his clan who was murdered first, which he sees as an act of disrespect
by Di Matteo, they both leave, knowing that they have to be careful whilst war is
happening
• This war is known as the ’War di Napoli’ – which translates into the War of Naples.
• The first scene ends with the people of Naples locking up their houses/business,
because everybody is afraid of the War di Napoli.
4. DISEQUILIBRIUM OF THE FILM
• In the beginning scene a Torres clan member is killed, his name was Pasquale and even though in the Torres clan he
wasn’t that significant, the butterfly effect for this murder was the catalyst for this film
• The Torres clans act of revenge was a real bad move, as if they hadn’t murdered the 6 people war could have been
prevented, but to no avail
• The meeting between the Torres and Di Matteo clans didn’t go well after, they could’ve had piece but too much pride
was at stake for Torres and he went to war with Di Matteo
• Now after the failed meeting, Naples is on high alert, the mayor of Naples orders the Carabineri (Italian police) to have
even more men on the streets of Naples incase one of the clans attempts to cause harm to the rival clan members
• Tony is close to being found out as an informant after he accidently blurts out information to a Di Matteo clan
member, so he is worried that Torres would find out, but of course they are both at war so any communication
between the clans would be near enough impossible, he breathes a sigh of relief, but now he knows not to say
anything to anyone he doesn’t know, even Torres clan members
• Although now Tony has a third enemy, the Di Matteos, previously a neutral in the war despite him being in the Torres
clan he participates in the robbery of a Di Matteo shop. So now he is: betraying Torres, helping the police, and now
escaping an angry Di Matteo clan
• Afterwards, Torres and Di Matteo have lost a lot of men, they both know that it’ll take a pinch of luck if one another
want to actually win the war, they don’t want to lose/give up out of pride.
• Tony makes a terrible mistake, he gives the police info on where 2 members of the Torres clan, he hopes Maranzano is
there but he isn’t, he then questions how the police knew about the raid, Tony knows he could be killed if Torres even
has the slightest suspicion.
• A few months pass, Tony goes to the police again, by this point both clans only have 4 men each left, he gives info on
Torres’ whereabouts, the raid is successful, Torres is arrested, Di Matteo has won the war.
5. RELEASE DATE
• It will be released in the summer months, which is when people have
more free time and will be able to see the film. There’s no specific date
but between July-August would be my preferred date as referenced
above more people will have the time to watch.
6. AGE RATING
• This isn’t a proper violent film, it has violence but it’s more gun battles
and interrogations. But of course the film has murder and death so it’ll
be for a more mature audience, 15+ would be ideal as people that age
understand death and can handle it I’d think.
7. RUN TIME
• This is a feature film, and it has quite a lot to get through, so around 1
hour and 45 minutes would be a good length for this film, it isn’t as long
as other films but it’s an average time for most films nowadays.
8. LOCATION
• It will be set in Naples, Italy
• This is a good location as this city has had it’s fair share with mafia clans,
speaking of real life context: Naples is home of the Camorra, a crime
syndicate which has had quite the influence for years and years over
everyday life in Naples and like the fictional Torres and Di Matteo clans
there are 111 Camorra clans in Naples, they are prone to fighting each
other which gives my film the sense of realism.
• In the bottom right hand corner there is a picture of a real life Camorra
boss, Antonio Iovine who is the inspiration behind the two bosses in the
film. Because Iovine was very good at evading arrest and my 2 fictional
bosses are too.
9. EXHIBATION
• My audience will be able to watch this in the cinema first, then if the
cinema sales are positive it will be released on DVD for people to maybe
rewatched if there was something they hadn’t understood or they may
just want to watch it again because they liked it that much. If the DVD
sales were positive too then it would be on the video streaming apps
like Netflix, Hulu etc, which would get it to the biggest audience
possible, which would show the success of it because if you make it on
Netflix you have to be pretty successful otherwise Netflix wouldn’t take
the risk.
10. MARKETING CAMPAIGN
• The first way is the most effective way in my opinion, social media:
because financially for the film it makes sense to advertise on social
media, because all social media apps are free but can reach literally
anyone (there are 330m users a month and that’s a large audience which
can get wind of the film)
• And if the social media aspect is successful then I will try more methods,
obviously Twitter is a large platform but there are some people who
haven’t got it, and to counter that I will have billboards all around the
big cities of the world, preferably the Italian cities because it is an Italian
film but of course I will have it in English speaking cities like New
York/London because this will come with subtitles to help everyone else
enjoy it without the need to learn Italian!
11. FILM SCHEDULE
• The film will take a year or two to make just so the film can be the best it
will be, and I will start the advertisement campaign 7 months before
release, I’ll start the social media first, focus on it for a few months then
after the physical advertisement like billboards/posters will begin,
although I will still be using the social media to maximize the reach it
can get.
