1. VP of Engineering
We’re looking for a hands-on VP Engineering to partner with our CEO and leadership team
in setting the strategic and product vision for the company, and then to define and execute
the technology roadmap to achieve that vision. As a key member of our leadership team,
you’ll guide our architectural decisions, ensure all development projects are technically
aligned and properly managed and lead our technology team. This role is currently 50%
hands on software development, 50% management and team building, although we
expect this mix will shift as the company continues to grow.

As VP of Engineering, you’ll play a central role in the design, development, and delivery of
all features for IWT’s products. The ideal candidate will have a passion for web
development and a strong background in building highly dynamic and scalable web
applications using modern web technologies such as PHP, WordPress and WordPress
plug-ins and mobile technologies in a fast cycle development environment.
You’ll help manage and grow a development team while building the processes and
technologies that allow us to deliver distinctive products to our customers as efficiently as
possible. You will stay abreast of new technologies and evaluate and recommend strategic
technology solutions throughout the company. As an experienced programmer, you will
guide and inspire IWT’s technical team with your deep knowledge and clear technical
direction and standards.

2. · Ensure alignment of technology related initiatives, business objectives, and key
business strategies within the organization. Understand and communicate business
objectives to the technical team
· Work closely with the Product team to develop and implement technology strategies
that achieve the product development objectives of the organization
· Lead and coordinate all aspects of web and mobile application development efforts,
establish priorities and set clear technical direction and standards for the engineering
team
· Create bridges and systems that communicate between all IWT technology stacks.
· Oversee the design and development of customer-facing front-end assets and pages
for IWT products, marketing and analytic activities
· Manage on-going support of all of the firm’s existing applications and systems, both
product-related (product delivery, webinar, automation and Zero To Launch
platforms) and support systems (InfusionSoft CRM, 1shoppingcart, Authorize.Net,
Zendesk and others)
· Direct a team of developers, UX/UI team, designers, email systems analysts and
other technical staff
· Recruit and develop strong engineering talent and lead and mentor junior
development staff
· Architect and implement of policies, standards, and procedures for all engineering
and technical work
· Evaluate and communicate the pros and cons of technology strategy options to
members of the organization
· Analyze the infrastructure needs of the organization and make recommendations for
enhancements and improvements
Skills and Specifications
· 10+ years of related experience, with at least 5 years in building scalable, reliable,
consumer-facing web applications
· Demonstrable history of building and managing high performing technology teams
and developing their talent
· Deep technical knowledge and recognized leadership in a number of technical
roles. Expert-level software engineering and coding skills. Capable of working
across the entire software stack.
· Advanced knowledge of WordPress and WordPress Plugin development and
maintenance
· Significant previous experience in mobile web development optimization and
responsive design.
· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PHP, CakePHP Framework, and modern
front-end development, including design, HTML, CSS3 and Javascript coding.
· In-depth working knowledge of InfusionSoft and its functional components, including
campaign building structures; optin/optout flows and user status management;
legacy action sets; shopping cart, product delivery and notification integration;
affiliate management; and integration of APIs for lead management, purchases,
refunds and affiliate referrals.

3. · Proven architectural experience with integrating multiple eCommerce technologies
and systems, specifically CRM, email, shopping cart, payment processing, and help
desk systems.
· Understanding of relational databases and optimizations for high-traffic sites
· Intermediate knowledge of front-end caching mechanisms such as Varnish, and how
to overcome stringent caching systems with per-user dynamic sites.
· Must be comfortable developing in-house platforms, customer-facing systems and
customer-installed distributed software.
· Solid working knowledge of Google Analytics and Universal Analytics, Google
Applications, Basecamp or other collaboration project management software, and
MS Office.
Education and Other Qualifications
· BS or MS in Computer Science or other technical field or comparable experience
· Prior engineering lead experience in startup/high growth environments
· Experience in managing virtual development team a plus
· Aware of all cutting edge technologies and constantly learning new ones
· Excellent communication skills -- able to communicate effectively with senior
management and collaborate with engineers, designers, product developers and
non-technical team members
· Self-starter / self-motivated, able to multi-task and effectively prioritize and execute
projects with minimal supervision
· Have a ‘do what it takes’ mentality and a willingness to pivot and change direction
quickly as necessary
· Must be comfortable working within unstructured, fast-moving and constantly
evolving virtual environment with tight deadlines.
