promoting financial
independence and stimulating eco-
nomic growth in the greater DC area.
We offer a committed partnership
through personalized small business
loans and individualized
financial coaching.
Our support helps entrepreneurial
self-starters excluded from the com-
mercial lending system grow their
businesses by providing affordable
access to capital.
Small Business Loans
• HMFI provides funding to spark sustainable, economically
independent businesses in the DC community
• We negotiate an appropriate interest rate, usually around
6-10% and decide on a repayment date, generally between
6-24 months
• To qualify, clients must have a monthly income of at least
$1000, show signs of financial responsibility, have no unpaid
taxes or current bankruptcy proceedings, and demonstrate
a specific use for the loan.
A personal relationship
• We offer individual and group business sessions that focus
on developing core business skills and personal financial
strength.
• Consultants work with clients at a location most convenient
for them and tailor sessions to the needs of clients.
credit builder loan
• Our credit builder loan increases credit score by up to 100
points and gives clients the tools to maintain good credit in
the future.
• The Credit Builder Program is ideal for clients who want
to improve their access to financial support from larger
institutions.

lumbia Heights.
Bernardo Figueroa
“I’d rather work with HMFI than a bank any day.
They gave me a lot of information on how to
run a business, make a balance sheet and
ensure I don’t spend more money than I’m
bringing in.”
