Script ting

1. Int. Office. Morning
JACK sits at their desk. Wearing a black tie and white shirt
with the top button undone and ruffled hair. His mind seems
elsewhere and he does not concentrate on the work in-front of
him. The office is bleak with very little colour tones. The
camera is static giving a close up of JACK’s face but a low
depth of field stops us seeing the background. The camera moves
to a medium shot of the door as POPPY walks in holding a stack
of papers. She drops the papers on JACKs desk.
POPPY
Here’s the papers the boss needs you to sign off on.
JACK grunts some kind of approval.
POPPY
Ok. I guess i’ll see you later then?
JACK takes no notice as she seems to linger for a few seconds
waiting for a response but none is offered. She leaves the room.
JACK shifts his gaze to the papers for a few seconds and then
back to the table in front of him. Then shaking his head
slightly as if waking up he opens his computer to find himself
open on a web-page titled “WHY YOU SHOULD GET UP AND LEAVE YOUR
JOB”. JACKs face twitches slightly. Looking slightly confused he
scrolls down on the page for it to say “MAKE THE DECISION: LEAVE
OR DON’T”.Quick tempo music plays. The camera quickly switches
between an extreme close up of the lettering and an extreme
close up of JACKs indecisive eyes. Abruptly he gets up and walks
away from his desk he passes POPPY quickly. She seems alarmed.
POPPY
JACK? Are you ok? Where you going?
JACK takes almost no notice of her. Carrying on walking and as
if not listening says.
JACK
Mhm. Yeah.

2. Ext. Street. Day
JACK briskly walks down the street. Slightly out of breath. He
stops, staring directly into camera. He catches his breath back.
Turns around abruptly. Then turns back to camera. Before
breaking into a sprint. The camera stays static watching him run
off.
INT. Supermarket. Day
JACK looks for his favourite food in the aisles. Walking about
he finds his it. He nods in underwhelmed approval.
EXT. Park. Day
JACK sits on a bench looking around vaguely, he gets out his
phone to check the time. A man walks behind him holding a bag of
shopping. JACKS attention switches to him. He watches him walk
away. When the man has left the shot jack gets up and begins
following him.
MONTAGE – VARIOUS
- EXT. High street. Day - ​JACK follows the man through the
street quickly
- EXT. Park path. Day - ​JACK follows the man through the
tunnel in the park.
- EXT. Bridge. Day - ​ the man walks through the shot again
this time turning quickly to check if JACK is still
following him. He speeds up a little bit after this. JACK
follows through a few seconds later.
- EXT. Residential street. Day - ​The man passes through the
scene again. JACK DOES NOT WALK THROUGH

3. EXT. Residential Street. Day
JACK stops walking and looks towards the man as he stops and
talks to another woman. The woman takes the man by the hand and
they begin to walk off. The camera changes to JACKS face as he
looks deeply upset. He stands there carrying on his stare.
JACK
Oh.
JACK turns around and wanders back in the other direction.
Slowly with his hands in his pockets.
MONTAGE – VARIOUS
- EXT. Bridge. Day - ​ JACK slowly walks back the way he came
earlier.
- EXT. Park path. Day - ​JACK slowly walks back the way he
came earlier.
- EXT. High street. Day - ​JACK slowly walks back the way he
came earlier.
INT. Office. Day
JACK walks in and sits back down where he began his day. He
looks deflated. The papers on his desk have stacked up. He eyes
them up and down before going onto his computer and checking his
email. The top one reads “REVIEW MEETING SCHEDULED”. JACK lets
his head fall into his hands. He sits motionless for a moment
before letting out a deep sigh. Poppy walks into the room
slowly, immediately noticing JACKS poor mood.

4. POPPY
What’s up Jack?
JACK looks up slightly startled. He takes a second to realise
who it is before speaking.
JACK
I’m fine. Bit tired. Long day.
POPPY
Where did you go? You kind of walked out for 3 hours. I covered
for you with the boss.
JACK
Oh thanks, would of been bad if he knew. Just took a walk. Was
feeling a bit ill this morning.
POPPY rolls her eyes. She obviously knows he’s lying.
POPPY
Right. If you need to talk i’m here yeah? See you later.
JACK
Yeah, thanks. I’ll see you tomorrow.
POPPY looks disappointed before leaving the room. JACK watches
her leave and stares at the empty space for a second. He looks
defeated. Looking back at his computer before picking up the
first stacks of paper on the pile. And beginning to work on it.
INT. POPPY'S Home. Later that day.
POPPY sits down on the sofa with a glass of water. She lifts her
phone up but there are no notifications.
EXT. Park. Same Time.

5. JACK sits on his own in the park. Looking around him. He picks
up his phone dials a number.
INT. Previous woman's home. Same time.
The woman and the man are sitting on the sofa together. Relaxing
and watching tv. The woman's phone begins to ring.
EXT. Park. Same Time.
JACK is sitting there waiting for the phone to answer. Someone
picks up on the other end but we can’t tell who.
JACK
Hey, I was just wondering if you were around to talk?
…
Right now? If that’s ok?
…
Thank You yeah i’m in the park.
…
Sure, i’ll see you in a minute, Thank You.
…
Jack is sitting in the park when a woman starts walking behind
towards him from behind. Shallow depth of field means we can’t
tell who it is.
INT. Previous woman's home. Same time.
The sofa from earlier is empty. But the T.V. is left on.
EXT. Park. Same Time.
The woman in the background comes into focus and it’s revealed
to be POPPY.
POPPY
Hey Jack.

6. JACK
Hey, thanks for coming, do you want to walk?
POPPY
Umm sure sounds nice
The two walk off. Talking but you can’t make out what they’re
saying. The camera switches back to the bench JACK was just
sitting on. The woman from earlier appears and stops as she sees
JACK and POPPY. She begins to shout for JACK but stops. She
looks sad but turns around and walks away.
