2. ·Spreading awareness of CCDRR in the
community and on school campuses
From May to June, 2014, Jinde Charities held
an activity launched by the China Foundation
for Poverty Alleviation and the website of
humanitarian aid called “say no to disaster” to
spread knowledge about disaster prevention
and alleviation. As the organizer in Hebei
province, Jinde Charities successively held a
series of disaster prevention and alleviation
activities to propagate knowledge of disaster-
prevention in large communities and some
primary and secondary schools.
·Pope Francis prayed and donated
50,000 dollars to help the Ludian
disaster area.
On Wednesday August 6th ,2014, Pope
Francis expressed sympathy for the people
in the worst-hit area of Ludian, Yunnan. In
an interview he said :”I am with you.” Later
he donated 50,000 dollars to the disaster
area through Jinde charities for disaster
relief.
·Jinde Charities introduced orphans to
a summer camp to communicate with
Peng Liyuan
From August 7th to 11th, the staff of the
office of AIDS prevention led five orphans
who are infected with HIV to join the “Love
under the sun -- the infected orphans’
summer camp” activity held in Beidaihe.
Ambassador Peng Liyuan joined hand in
hand with Xuanxuan and the other children
to raise up the white flag which symbolized
hope and a promising future.

·“Homes that love built”, we built
new houses for the people in the disaster
area of Ming Xian, Gansu province.
At the end of August, 2014, Jinde Charities
launched a project called “Homes that love
built” to help 23 families living in absolute
poverty in Minxian, Gansu province where
an earthquake occurred in 2013. The aid
lasted for 2 months. Cooperating partners,
e-pals, and caring people from various fields
all came together to donate for the project,
·Many sisters raised money through a
Marathon run event
In the field of the Beijing international Marathon,
there has been religious sisters running for
charity for the past six years. On October 19th,
2014, there was several sisters from different
religious orders that joined the sisters’ run for
the purpose of raising money for charity. The
Canadian ambassador Mr. Guy Saint-Jacques
exclaimed in astonishment,” the number of
sisters who joined the marathon is more than any
other country.”
·The annual Christmas party benefited
four types of people
On December 20th , 2014 the 10th Annual
Christmas party for charity entitled “We are
Together” was held in Shijiazhuang. The
party raised more than 650,000 Yuan. The
money will be used to buy rehabilitation
assistant devices for disabled orphans and
to cover the living expenses for children
in HIV-infected families. The money will
also help provide dentures for 1000 lonely
elderly people and help 1000 high school
girls in poverty.

giving all together more than 630,000 Yuan which shows the power of community. In the
end the 23 families living in absolute poverty had all moved into their new houses by the
end of 2014 .

Preamble
Lao zi said “charity is a treasure.” This sentence reminds us that keeping good things in mind and doing good
things is a treasure in one’s life. We agree with this saying. First, the ones who keep good things in mind should
have compassion for others. They are able to see the needs of others, ignoring the gain and loss and even give up
complaining; Second, the ones who do good things not only offer substantial assistance, but also affect others and
spread the spirit of charity.
A heart for good things is the virtue of the individual and a blessing to society. It brings peace and joy to the
individual and spreads peace and happiness throughout society.
During the last two years, except for the common people’s praying to Buddha, we occasionally notice the so-called
“masters” who are the wealthy, famous and popular. The government officers frequently get in touch with these
revered people. Do they devote themselves to Buddha or the truth? We all know that they hold to utilitarianism and
are committed to simply making transactions with Buddha or the gods.
Living in a complex world and facing an unpredictable future, we long for blessings, protection, peace and tranquility
which is all a part of our human nature, but we have overlooked the fact that being a Buddha is due to practice, not
asking. The truth is due to realizing, not reading; and Confucianism is due to one’s actions, not words. In the fifth
century, during the homily of a Doctor of the Church Peter Chrysologus, he said: "the asking from prayers can be
attained by fasting, and can be received by giving, because the soul in prayer is fasting, and the life of fasting is doing
charity. If you want others to hear your prayers, you should also listen to others’ prayers.
Jesus’ words are simple:”whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”(Matthew 25:40)
The judgment of God boils down to this unique statement.
In his statement for the 2015 Lenten season Pope Francis once again combined charity and happiness, especially
reminding Christians to not only pay attention to the institutions and chaos in society, but all of us should also
realize that charity is a mission from God. Our life can only be fulfilled through this mission which brings richness,
happiness and peace, and which also makes our souls beautiful and glorious.
Thank you for all of our friends’ trust and support who cherish charity as a treasure! In 2014, Jinde Charities received
a total of 11,515,961.69 Yuan, which includes domestic donations of 7,540,424.90 Yuan. This represents 65.49% of
all donations for 2014. A total of 11,381,515.10 Yuan was disbursed which represents 98.83% of the total income.
About 100,000 people have benefited including people in disaster, the elderly, the sick in poverty and needy students.
With God's protection our treasure of charity continues to reach more and more people.
In 2015, Jinde Charities wish is to send this treasure and good things to more people.

Disaster Relief
Ludian Earthquake , Yunnan
At 4:30PM, August 3th, 2014, Ludian, which is in Shaotong city of Yunnan province, suffered a 6.5 magnitude earthquake
at a depth of 12 kilometers. Because of the large magnitude and shallow epicenter, this earthquake caused 517 dead, 112
missing and 3143 injured. After the earthquake, Jinde Charities and local volunteers came to the disaster area to rescue the
local people. Jinde Charities sent quilts, tents, rice, oil and cotton-padded clothes valued at 752,245.90 Yuan to 706 victims
in eight villages of the worst-hit area including Yingping and, Weigu villages in the town of Xindian, Qiaojia country and
the town of Mashu.
To know the need of the people in the worst-hit area as soon as possible, we have to rely on the corporation of local church
community and the prayers and assistance from the ecumenical church and society. Li Enshan, Liu Shubo, Yang Yongqing
are members of migration workers to Kunming from Xianxian diocese. They left out the business of their family and joined
the team to do disaster-relief, they provided their own cars to get to the muddy area, and assisted the work of substantial
dispatching. A lay faithful from Wenzhou does home textile business in Kunming, as soon as he heard our relief works for
the victims, he provided the quilts at 50% discount of the market price.
In the afternoon of August 10th, when the road from the town of
Xindian to the village of Weigu had been repaired, the team from
Jinde Charities immediately traveled to Weigu to pass out rice,
oil, and quilts valued at 270,316.00 Yuan. Since the earthquake
happened the villagers had been eating only instant noodles. This
disbursement helped them solve their urgent needs.

The Reconstruction of Minxian, Gansu Province
Disaster Relief after the Anhua Flood
Pope Francis expressed his sympathy towards the victims
during the Wednesday public audience in August 6th, and
appeal to the church to pray for the people, he donated
50,000 dollars to the Jinde Charities in for helping the people
in Ludian disaster area. After the earthquake, the churches
around the country and the clergy and lay faithful prayed for
the disaster area, and donated via Jinde Charities.
The villagers smiled after receiving the quilts.
Through previous visits and screening, Jinde Charities gave
out customized down coats to 50 children in Laogongfang
of Xiaozhai, located in Ludian county. 265 people across 65
families were thrown into poverty from an earthquake that
destroyed their homes in the town of Mashu in the county
of Qiaojia. They received rice, oil and quilts which were
provided from the donations of the e-pals of Jinde Charities.
With the purpose of providing timely help, Jinde Charities
started reconstruction assistance called “Homes that love
built” in Minxian ,Gansu province after the earthquake.
On July 22th, 2013 , an earthquake struke Minxian, but
because of the Ya'an earthquake which happened in April,
little attention was paid to Minxian. Considering its poverty,
Jinde Charities allied with the Shanghai Guangqi service
center and the Lanzhou Jingcheng service center to dispatch
construction materials and give technical support to 23
families in absolute poverty in YongXing, Yongguang
,LuLu, and Dalong villages in the town of Meichuan in the
year 2014, helping them to reconstruct. By the end of the
year, all of the families were able to move into their new
homes.
In 2014, from the donation of the CFPA, Jinde Charities
launched a project for the peasants of Dahe village, Taiping
town, Ya'an city in the form of a farmers’ professional
cooperative to aid the villagers in developing the farming
industry. The cooperative community has matured in every
aspect via training and the project has been smoothly
transferred to the social development department of Jinde.
After the flood in Hunan province in July, 2014, Jinde
Charities dispatched rice, oil and quilts valued at 72304
Yuan for 172 families who suffered from the flood.
Production Recovery after the Ya'an Earthquake

that they have lived in for one year.
On August 11th we dispatched relief supplies for the
village of Weigu in the town of Xindian. During the
return trip we suffered debris flow and the car of the
volunteers was smashed.

Assistance for Families in Poverty
From January 1st to December 31th of 2014, we helped 126 people from poor families suffering from various illnesses, giving
away 508,500 Yuan in total. There were 68 people who applied for help from Hebei province, 15 from Chongqing, 5 from
Gansu, 4 from Shandong, 4 from Sichuan, 4 from Shanxi, 4 from Inner Mongolia, 4 from Guizhou, 3 from Henan, 3 from
Yunnan, 3 from Shaanxi, 2 from Jilin, 2 from Hunan, 1 from Liaoning, 1 from Fujian , 1 from Guangdong , 1 from Hubei, and
1 from Jiangxi. And 3 of them have passed away.
This little boy is 7-year-old Wang Yujie, from Wulanchabu City of
Inner Mongolia. He was diagnosed with blastic plasmacytoid dendri-
tic cell neoplasm towards the end of October, 2013. This is a very rare
type of blood disease without a proper treatment so far and, therefore,
has to use the treatment of leukemia. After some time of chemotherapy,
the situation is brought under control for the time being. Little Yujie’s
parents have no stable job and no good income either. They had to
borrow more than 200,000 RMB for the treatment of their child in
Tianjin. After receiving the application of this family, Jinde Charities
immediately sent 5000 RMB to assist and comfort the economically
challenged family.
32-year old Li Jie is from Longmen Village of Fuping County
of Baoding City, Hebei Province. He was diagnosed with
uraemia in 2009 and had to go through hemodialysis since
then. The treatment has not only cost all of his savings but
incurred a lot of debts also. Li Jie’s wife is Li Hui, 6 years
younger than him, and has a 5-year old child. Has been taking
good care of her husband all over the years, Li Hui said: “We
had a happy life together after the marriage. He was very kind
to me and to the child. I cannot give him up just because he
is now sick. We will share both the happiness and suffering
together.” While we were visiting the family, the volunteer
was giving foot massage to Li Jie. Jinde Charities offered 4000
RMB to assist them.
The girl in picture is Chen Yu, was diagnosed
with leukemia in 2008 and has been
fighting against the disease. In 2013, Jinde
Charities offered help to her. In 2014, she
received transplant operation, but the disease
reoccurred at
the end of that
same year. While

regain eyesight.

Social Development
The department of social development dedicated itself to improve
the life standard of the people in poverty and various needs,
providing training opportunities for the local organizations and
promoting sustainable development projects.
The development of the Goat Breeding Project in
Liujing Village
In the year 2014, Jinde Charities bought 147 black goats
adapting to local condition for 35 families in Liujing village,
Lianfeng town, Yongshan country to help them improve their
life condition. The project used the rolling development model,
starting from the year 2016, the 35 families benefited from the
project should donate a goat for four successive years for other
people in poverty, the donating model will bring more benefits to
the people in poverty.
Construction of a water-tight channel in Longmen village of
Fuping town, Fuping countny, Baoding city
On April 1st , 2014 , the Longmen village
of Fuping countny in Baoding city being
supported by Jinde Charities started a
project for a water-tight channel. The
construction was completed on May
15th. Longmen village is located in a
mountainous area where there’s a lack
of water and no water channel. The
backward water conservancy facilities
was played an important role in restricting
the development of agriculture and the
enrichment of the villagers. The newly-built
water-tight channel is 2,700 meters long
and can irrigate 800+ acres of farmland.
The water conservancy bureau has a check
and report.
The 2013 Christmas party raised 263,782.10 Yuan for
orphans and disabled children, the total amount was used
for 9 orphanages and rehabilitation facilities by providing
12 special bathing beds and assistive devices. The bathing
bed was suggested by Ms. Wang Qingfen of the Li Ming
home because of the physical effort it takes to give them
a bath many of the nursing assistants got backaches. The
bathing bed for the disabled can effectively solve this
problem. Many organizations that received the bathing bed
responded that they were nice and improved the quality
for the children taking a bath and also relieved the burden
of the workers, as well as adding some amusement to the
work. The bathing bed benefited 316 children.
The Seminar for Chinese Child-Rearing
From September 16th to the 17 th, Jinde and Nanjing
Amity held a seminar entitled "the second annual
seminar on Chinese child-rearing". There were 47
experts that participated in the seminar. The themes
were: policy and challenge, the influence of civil
organizations for the enhancement of children welfare,
the communication of the districts and international
experience, the discussion of a sharing mechanism
among child-rearing organizations.

The NGO Ability Building Project
The NGO ability building project is a three-year plan, including four
steps of training across 15 small projects. The training helped many
people regarding professional theory, and the small projects gave the
students an opportunity to practice the things they learned.
Separately in the middle of June and December of 2014 we held
two training sessions covering topics such as lifecycle management,
raising money and promotion, charity administration, human
resources , financial administration ,etc. There were more than 20
organizations that participated in the training. After the training , our
partner CCFD especially supported a smal project by joining in the
training in order to practice what had been learned. After the first
training session on June, 5 small projects were launched during the
year. They include: the project of the service group in the service
center of Yile of Keyuan communityin Mianyang city, the project
to promote AIDS-Prevention in the undergraduate community of
the Shengjingrenai social service center of Liaoning province,
the training program for helping teenager’s value education in the
Jincheng social service center in Jincheng of Lanzhou city, and the
caring program of left-behind students in the social service center
of the Wanzhou diocese of the Catholic church and the agriculture
development project of Jilin.
During this time we provided rehabilitation
assistance devices including chairs, wheel
chairs and standing frames. The picture
shows a child with cerebral palsy doing the
sitting, seat balancing, posture correction and
prevention therapy exercises.

Scholarships
In 2014, Jinde Charities subsidized a total
of 257 students, including 187 primary and
secondary school students and 70 university
students, with a sum of 344,850 Yuan. The
students come from a variety of provinces
such as Hebei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei
, Anhui, Henan, Gansu, Inner Mongolia,
Liaoning, Yunnan, Shanxi ,Shandong,
Shaanxi, Qinghai, and other places.
The girl in the picture is named Tingting, she is
a 10-year-old girl in 4th grade in primary school.
Tingting’s home is in remote mountain area. When
she was a child her mother left her infant brother and
her because of poverty, and so far has not returned
home yet. The father bore the burden of their family
to take care of the children. Since the children were
young, the family had to rely on working on a farm
of about an acre. Tingting and her little brother are
very thoughtful. Not only did they get a high score in
class but also shared the housework with their father.
Knowing that the team from Beijing West Church
who subsidizes them were coming for a visit to see
them, the two children came out in the yard wearing
beautiful cloths and smiled happily.

On the morning of March 20th, 2014, a mother and her daughter came to the office of Jinde Charities in
Shijiazhuang. They donated 2000 Yuan as a way to say thank you those who have helped them.
The daughter Xiaoqin described the circumstances of their life: “when I was a student, my family was in deep
poverty. Our family which included five people had to rely on the labor of my father. With his income we could
just baring make a living.” Unfortunately , my mother came down with serious disease and needed an operation
which cost several hundred thousand Yuan. For us this was an unimaginable number, we couldn’t afford it!”
Because of this, my mother gave up hope for such an operation and instead turned to conservative treatment until
now.”
“Meanwhile, her younger brother Xiaoqiang received admittance to a university, but the high tuition put the
family in a dilemma. Though he couldn't bare giving up his own dream, he knew the family couldn’t afford his
tuition so he decided not to go.”
Let the Love Go Forth
——feedback from recipients after being helped for 10 years
The whole family felt as if a knife had stabbed them in the heart. They didn’t have the heart to see Xiaoqiang
lose the opportunity to go to an university. Through the introduction of a parish priest and some lay people,
Xiaoqin and his mother found Jinde Charities. Xiaoqin and her mother were instantly relieved when a staff
member told them, “Don’t be worried!”. After several procedures, Xiaoqiang received financial help for his
studies.
This subsidy became an impetus for Xiaoqiang’s study. He studied assiduously and lived a thrifty life. He has
a desire to give back to his benefactors and society. In 2010, he finished his studies with high marks and finally
found a new job in the city.
In 2012, his mother launched a small market in the community, and they gradually came out of poverty. They
have never forgotten the previously unknown donors, “Ten years ago, we were helpless and warm-hearted
people helped us, gave us encouragement and faith! At that time the priest said: 'Please give the child a good
environment to be able to continue his study and concentrate on work! Everyone has a tough time, but Jesus
Christ has taught us to help each other. When you have the ability to gain economic independence you should
help other families who are in great need.’ Ten years have passed and now we have come again to give thanks! I
wish that our donation can be used to help a student like Xiaoqiang. ” the mother said with great emotion.

AIDS-Prevention
Since 2002, Jinde Charities has launched the caring project
for AIDS. Many of the people are from poor HIV-infected
families in remote mountain areas and because of the disease
they have lost their source of income. The people in the
village avoid them like the plague. In some of the HIV-
infected families the parents have passed away. Some of
them have been infected from birth. They have been alienated
by others in school and had to face the possibility of death
throughout their childhood. Because we have seen their
misfortune and their helpless lives, the AIDS-prevention
office launched training for their psychological and physical
care. We arranged visiting activities for the families,
accompanying them, and caring about them.
In 2014 a department of Jinde Charities held 17 activities
for training and visiting, with 567 people joining in and 120
families being visited. In the meantime we set up a project
to care for HIV-infected orphans and support for loving care
groups.
Colorful Activities
From October 24th to 26th of 2014, the
department of AIDS prevention held a
training activity called “Josef Eugster’s
health care for the feet”, 20 infected persons
and their families joined the training. The
training specially invited Wang Lanxian
who is authorized by Josef Eugster to give
the lecture, and experienced masseuse
Zhangduo to instruct. The training aims at
training the HIV-infected and their families
to know how to do foot massage, self-help,
and develop their immunity.
We regularly visit the HIV-infected
families in poverty in order to give them
supplies and spiritual companionship.
Jinde Charities held “the red ribbon
summer camp” and organized two
groups of undergraduate students from
Central South university and Zhejiang
university. Each of the groups included
8 to 10 students. In August we visited a
village with AIDS in Queshan county and
launched a caring activity for 20 days
for the HIV-infected children. We set up
several activities for psychological support
to do interest cultivation, quality education,
life skills training, homework tutoring and
parties.

On August 7-11, 2014 the staff of the
department of anti-HIV from Jinde Charities
led 5 HIV-infected orphans to join in the
activity of “love under the sun—the summer
camp for HIV-infected persons and children”.
This summer camp was hosted by the China
Association of STD & AIDS Prevention and
the China Health Education Center. The vice

Prevention and Control of AIDS, Liyuan
Peng, the ambassador from The World Health
Organization of HIV/AIDS Prevention and
Control and Jiang Wenli, the announcer of
The National Health and Family Planning
Commission on HIV/AIDS Prevention joined
the opening ceremony. In the rhythm of the
song "The one loving you", ambassador Peng
Liyuan joined hands with Xuanxuan and
other children while slowly raising up a white
sheet. It stands for the children defeating the
difficulties and going forward with courage.
The children cared for by the department of
anti-HIV of Jinde Charities are all living in
the mountain area so this was their first time
to visit Beidaihe. Because of the interaction
with the Peng Liyuan their faces were
filled with joy and excitement. Through
the education and training arranged by the
summer camp they gained encouragement.
HIV-infected persons have become younger. In “World
AIDS Day” of 2014, the publicity activity went onto
school campuses to popularize the knowledge of AIDS.
On December 1st , the Health and Family Planning
Commission of Hebei, the Family Planning association
of Hebei province, the Hebei CDC, the Shijiazhuang
CDC and several medical institutions along with 200+
volunteers joined the activities of “World AIDS Day”.
Jinde Charities is the only nongovernmental charity
organization to join the activity.

of elderly care continued
to do its traditional
caring project and ability
development training,
promoting the project
of elderly care with
volunteers and loving
groups. The elders are
fond of these innovative
activities.
Training
In 2014 the department of elderly care of Jinde Charities
separately hosted elderly care administration training and
caring for the elderly training near the end of the year. The
training involved project administration, team development,
speech , the administration of raising money and hospice
care. More than sixty retirement organizations were directly
engaged in the activity.
1. Supported the Xiaolu charitable institution of Linxi,
Xingtai city of Hebei province, the loving groups of
Xizhongying, Weixian, Xingtai city of Hebei province,
the serving groups of “Jingfu elders” of Fangeda, Hejian,
Cangzhou of Hebei province and the visiting work of four
elderly-care groups of Yileyuan, Changqingteng, Mianyang
city of Sichuan. People directly benefiting from this project
totaled 285.
2. Supported 29 lonely senior citizens in three different rest
homes in Sichuan and Hebei.
3. Covered the expenses for the elevators and heating in the
Hebei Jinde elderly home and the bathing devices and office
equipment of Mingyuanleling rest home of Anguo, Baoding,
Hebei province, and the heating fee of Sigao rest home of
Daming, Handan , Hebei province.
Support for Projects
Though it's only 10 kilometers from the center of the city
many of the senior citizens haven’t visited it for many years
because they are unable to move freely about on their own
or it is inconvenient to transport them, so they don’t know
about all of the changes that have happened. Therefore,
during the year, activities are arranged for the senior citizens
to tour the city or go to the nearby area for a pilgrimage.
They have visited parks, streets, and newly-built high-rise
buildings, and had lunch in a restaurant. These outings have
made the senior citizens lives more colorful.

Activities promoting the health of senior citizens have been very successful for the elderly care department of Jinde Charities.
It has gained the affection of many senior citizens. In 2014 we hosted 77 health activities for senior citizens in the villages
or communities of Xingtai and Canzhou of Hebei province, TongCheng of Hubei province, etc. More than 5,000 people
benefited from these activities.
From these activities the senior citizens realized the condition of their body, cultivated healthy habits and made new friends.
Some of the senior citizens were also able to mend damaged relationships.
After participating in the health care activities the local people and organizations were moved by the deep study and changes
they saw. From this more and more local people and teams began to support these activities. For example, some local farmers
donated fruit and vegetables they had grown so that the senior citizens could have a healthy lunch. Some of the local clinics
and medical stations arranged for doctors to give lectures and help them perform blood-pressure and blood-sugar testing, as
well as giving them suggestions on how to live a healthy life.
Activities Promoting the Health of Senior Citizens
The health care activities offer free blood-
pressure testing, blood-sugar testing, blood-
lipid testing and an electrocardiograph test.
We also invite the medical workers to give
health care lectures to the senior citizens. It
was the first time for many of them to have
a blood-pressure and blood-sugar test. Many
of them found out for the first time that their
blood-sugar or blood-pressure exceeded
the normal range. Through these activities
many of them have learned to control their
blood-sugar and blood-pressure, and now
pay attention to good habits that promote a
healthy life.

In 2014, there were 13 Ricci
volunteers who completed their
one year of service, and 19 newly-
recruited Ricci volunteers who took
over their work. The fifth group
ofRicci volunteers came from
Guangxi, Liaoning, Hebei, Gansu,
Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia. After
completing 11 days of training these
energetic youth headed off to their
work. Through serving others they
are seeking their dream and mission.
Besides serving in orphanages,
schools, rest homes, the AIDS caring
center, and special education center,
the house of Matteo Ricci also often
arranges various kinds of parties,
giving everyone a chance to chat
and share. Even though the Ricci
volunteer are working in different
places, their hearts are very close
and they know they are not alone.
Gan Chunrong, who is from Guigang ,Guangxi, is a enthusiastic
and gentle girl. In July 2014 she joined Jinde Charities as part
of the fifth group of Ricci volunteers and before August went
to serve at the career center of Tangqiuliming for the disabled
orphan’s skill training. There are three groups, Gan is leading
the “chasing dream” group including 4 boys and 2 girls. Her
work is not easy. She needed to teach the children common life
skills and help them to do body exercises and make handicrafts,
as well as leading them on excursions such as shopping and
visiting. Gan is a kind-hearted girl that patiently served, living a
happy life with the children. She said the childrens' smiles made
her feel happy.
Lu Xuechao, part of the fourth group of Ricci volunteers, served
as a teacher in the preparation school of Shenzhou ,in the city
of Hengshui . In June 2014 , after graduating from the house of
Matteo Ricci, he still chose to be a full-time volunteer, and served
in the school of Nanbanwende of the poor mountain area between
Yunnan and Burma. Xuechao is a boy with positive energy. During
the 2014 new year's holiday he gave up his vacation and joined the
elderly to spend the new year with them. He said that the holiday
was unforgettable, compared with the youth, the elderly were easily
satisfied. The delicious meals and visits by their children make
them feel happy and their mood calm to think about their own life.

Dinghan Fund
The Dinghan fund has devoted itself to the development
of team building, undertaking the principles of equality
regardless of area, gender or community, in order to give
assistance to the vulnerable, and provide opportunities for
group and individual development. The fields of service
include: the Taocheng scholarship (nuturing the divine call);
looking after herdsmen which includes evangelizing and
primary church team building (the cultivation of lay people);
the protection of old church relics and construction; mass
fees, etc.
In 2014, we subsidized 14 churches in Inner Mongolia and
the north east region of Chinaincluding, Hebei, Shanxi ,
Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan , and Guizhou, giving them a
total of 220,850.00 Yuan.. We also subsidized 22 priests
for mass fees totalling 70,900.00 Yuan. The nurturing faith
and cooperative projects along with other funds subsidized
six organizations , providing 438,898 .00Yuan in total. We
subsidized 28 sisters with 93,000 .00Yuan. All together, the
amount of money was 823,648.00 Yuan. We also renewed
the project “the fund for the social protection of people who
offer their life”, exclusively for the guarantee of the people
who offer their life and their family.
In December 2014 through the Jinde website, we launched
a competition of pontifical Bible memorization entitled
“Expressing the divine word, supporting the divine call” for
raising money for the brothers and sisters of the church.

Recruiting Information for Matteo Ricci Volunteers……
The requirements to become a Matteo Ricci volunteer:
1. An unmarried Catholic youth between 21 to 30 years old who also holds a degree beyond high school or a secondary
technical school. A high school graduate should have at least one year of working experience. The applicant should be healthy
and be willing to live a simple life.
2. The period of service: formal training starts in July. Volunteers serve from August to January of the following year or from
August to June of the following year. The shortest time is half a year; the longest should not be more than 2 years.
3. The applicant should complete the application form and a letter of introduction from their priest. We will hold three
comprehensive training sessions for the Matteo Ricci volunteers.

Featured Charity Activities
On January 18th , Jinde
joined in hosting the 2nd
annual “The power of
kindness and love evening
party” in the Shenzhen
grand theater. This was
the first time for Jinde
Charities to visit Shenzhen
to join the party. There
were many NGOs, charity
organizations, and well-
known corporations that
joined the evening party,
allowing the principles
of charity to penetrate
deep into our hearts. The
diocese of Shenzhen
greatly supported this
activity.
Charity Promotion
Charity Party Entitled “The Power of Kindness and Love”
May 12th , 2014 was the sixth
"reduction and prevention of disasters"
day , set up to spread information
about the reduction and prevention
of disasters, to improve public safety
awareness and response to disasters,
and to improve the public's ability to
rescue themselves and others. Jinde
Charities joined in this activity which
was launched by the website of the
CFPA called “say no to disasters!" --
a public activity for reduction and
prevention in China on May 12th,
by launching a series of educational
and practical activities mainly based
on practical training and theory. The
series of activities served more than
2,000 people and received a positive
response.

Charity Feedback
“The celebrity forum” is an activity to invite outstanding entrepreneurs and scholars to share their reflections on life and their
experience with success. We hope their hard-won experience and proactive attitude toward life can enlighten the youth with
good will.
Celebrity Forum
The “celebrity forum” is a reflection of the idea of “doing charity
for more people”. Through the platform of Jinde Charities,
celebrities are able to spread their spiritual wealth to more people
in need, while the audience can broaden their horizons through
this forum. The “celebrity forum” has enhanced the development
of Jinde and improved everyone at all levels in actively building
a beautiful China. Meanwhile, we also gave the companies and
individuals feedback in order to help them and ourselves.
On May 18th, 2014, Jinde’s “celebrity forum” began with
the famous training master, ”Carnegie’s pioneer of Huawe”,
Mr. Hei Youlong ‘s speech entitled "Life’s value and the
potency". 400 people from different occupations came from
Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shandong , and Gansu provinces in
order to join the activity. Later in the activity youth trainers
Liang Xucheng and Li Xiuping each gave us a speech entitled
"Live happily and live out the dream"and "Communicating
effectively".
Retreat
As a Catholic-based nonprofit organization most of
our donations comes from lay people with warm hearts
and Jinde’s friends. As a charitable organization, Jinde
continues to devote itself to using its strengths to aid lay
people’s spiritual life. In modern society with such rapid
economic development, many people are spiritually
burdened and in need of inner peace. The retreat gave us
a chance to step back from our busy and fast-paced life.
Several experienced pastoral priests were invited to lead
us, help us change, and comfort our minds.

On August 23th, 80 lay people came to the Hebei seminary to join in a retreat for entrepreneurs called ”Meeting each other
by the Jordan river” held by Jinde Charities.
The Sisters' Run
There are an increasing number of people
that realize the purpose of the marathon is
to raise money and help the home for the
aged, the disabled infant school, and the
leprosarium. The Sisters’ ability of self-
management has improved this project.
By 2014, “The sisters’ run” had really
expanded from Beijing. The Joseph house
in Fengxiang city, Shaanxi Province and the
special education center of Fufengxinyue
took the lead in joining the “Lining 10
kilometers” in Xian. And then, In Helong
Jilin, Taiyuan Shanxi ,Wuqing Tianjin, we
can see the figures of sisters running for
love in the marathons. Having organizations
in the city holding the marathon join in
not only improved the sisters’ ability to
administrate and coordinate, but also helped
discovered local resources and assisted the
organization to develop the work.
It is worth mentioning that on October
19th, in the most famous marathon in
Beijing, the Canadian ambassador Mr. Guy
Public Fundraising
In September 13th , 2014, at the marathon race held in Taiyuan, two sisters was
shacking hand to the crowd when they dashed toward the finish line of half-marathon.
The retreat began in prayer. While listening to the murmuring
river the priest led us into the Jordan river, helping us see the
image Jesus approaching with a smile, listening to everyone's
prayer, consoling the pain of all. At that moment those
gathered had left behind the noisy and impetuous daily life to
come and meet with Jesus silently.
By sharing “Peter’s thrice betrayal”(Luke 22:54-62) from
the Bible, the priest led us to feel “God’s love is bigger than
our imagination”, “No matter how big our sin is, God will
forgive us if we sincerely repent”. Many lay people did a self-
examination to the sacred heart of Jesus and determined to
repent after the explanation of Zhao Duo.
In this retreat we also took time to participate in Eucharistic
adoration and the sacrament of penance.

Featured Charity Activities
Saint-Jacques joined the team of sisters
to support charity. He exclaimed:” the
number of sisters who have joined in the
marathon is more than any other country.”
From the “sisters’ run”, more than 850,000
Yuan was raised which went to support
26 projects in 2014. Jinde Charities
contributed 160,000 Yuan towards this
amount via promotion on their website.
There were more than 1400 disabled
orphans, lonely elderly, HIV-infected
patients, poor students and lepers who
gained assistance from the “sisters’ run”.
At the Beijing marathon race in October 19th , The Irish ambassador Mr. Guy
Saint-Jacques who is the featured “star ”runner of Sisters’run ran with the sisters.
The Christmas Party
The annual Christmas party is an important activity to raise money for Jinde Charities. 2014 was the 10th. year for the party. It
was held on December 20th, and concluded in a friendly atmosphere. The theme of this party was “We are together”, and from
it we launched two projects including one installing dentures for 1000 lonely elderly, and raising tuition and fees for 1000 high
school girl students in the poor remote villages. Besides these, we also went on to raise money for HIV-infected families.
There were more than 700 people from all circles of life who joined the party. They came from Beijing, Tianjin, Jilin,
Shengyang, and provinces such as Hebei, Shandong ,Shanxi ,Jiangsu ,Gansu, etc. Through the entrance ticket, “ticket of love”
raffle, bidding for the paintings and watches, and buying handicrafts made by the HIV-infected and disabled children, everyone
showed a warm heart. Altogether, the party raised 629,364.55 Yuan which will be used for helping disabled orphans, children
in HIV-infected families, lonely elderly and high school girls in poverty.

“Homes that Love Built”Project
This 79-year-old woman grandma Bao was making
a living from begging while living in a small and
wretched tent eating mildewed potatoes to survive. In
the beginning we could see tears of desperation in her
eyes , but during the process of serving her we saw
that look change to kindness, and when she moved
into her new house, her face was filled with happiness
and a great big smile. Grandma Bao asked us why we
would treat her like this. Her neighbors and relatives
looked down on her and even treated her as trash.
She said :”Thank you for building a house for me. I
am thankful because now I have a home and can live
with my grandson. Every time you visit me here I feel
happy beyond measure.”
After the earthquake, Grandma Bao was living in
the shabby tent.
There are so many people donating by the project
“houses that love built” to build new house for
Grandma Bao, now she has a new warm house.
On September 15th, 2014, Jinde
Charities joined with the Guangqi
social service center of Shanghai and
the Jincheng social service center of
Lanzhou to launch the “Homes that
love built” project. This project assisted
23 families in living in absolute poverty
in the disaster area of Minxian, Gansu
province where an earthquake struke
by rebuilding their houses. With the
earthquake in Ya'an also occurring
in 2013 which attracted most of the
public’s attention, there were few
people focusing on Minxian, a national-
level poverty-stricken county. It was
here that we helped the poorest 23
families still living in wretched tents.
They have lost their jobs and have
no income or they were already a
"five guarantees" family before the
earthquake happened. The earthquake
destroyed their only house. They owned
nothing after the earthquake. Many
of them were weak elderly, women,
children and people with illness who are in deep desperation. They are very eager to live in a warm house during the cold
winter.
As soon as the “Homes that love built” project was begun, it gained the assistance from caring people from various professions.
In about a month the project had raised 600,000 Yuan. We used the money to buy materials, and invited several volunteers to
help the families. In the end, 23 families were living in new houses.

children and she cannot live.”Thank

In order to build the houses while guaranteeing both quality and quantity for the 23 families and to save costs, “the homes that
love built” project purchased construction materials according to the process of building, and invited experienced volunteers
to assist the families to build the houses. The words below are from the sharing of volunteers and villagers who co-planned to
build the “the homes that love built” project.
The Feeling of the Volunteers
When we came to a new area we saw Grandma Bao who was
just like our mother. She is so poor that she cannot eat regular
food and doesn't live in a normal house. I cannot imagine how
she has made it through such tough times. Grandma Bao said that
she was treated as trash, but for us she was treated as a common
person. We arrived in Minxian on the 18th and visited the house
during the daytime, measuring the windows and floors and
wondering what materials the families needed. In the evening we
went back and worked on a budget till very late. We didn’t want
to waste money so we spent a lot of time and effort working out
a budget.
“In recent months, the most difficult thing is that we didn’t

accustomed to the food. They always cooked in
the morning, but at noon they ate without cooking.
When I felt hungry, I would think of Grandma Bao.
I cannot help tearing up when I think about her.”
“And we have to mention the family of Bao
Wenjun, his daughter-in-law is the same age of my
daughter. I always think that I would not know what
to do if such a burden came upon me. The 27-year-
old husband is unable to work and there were two
children to be raised up. I said to her, don’t worry, I
will treat her as my daughter and build a new house
for her. ”
“There were so many people who suggested to us
that we should not build the house so seriously.
They didn’t understand why I used such great effort
to do this since they didn't use such great effort to
build their house.”
“They said that the Catholic church is conscientious. Now that the church has sent us to do this, we should put our heart into
the work and help each other. It is the will of God that he sent us to this place to realize the life of the poor. For a period of
time I thought my life was tough, but today I think I wasted so many things. ”
“There were so many people asking me to help them build a house, but I said to them , the reason that we came here is to
help the family with no work. In my home there was 60 goats and there was 10+ acres of rice to harvest. I felt stressed, but in
the end I decided to stay here. A while back the mayor came to see us. He told us he was moved, saying,’thank you Catholic
church , you are so kind!’”
