The school is named after Rufino Blanco y Sánchez, a journalist and teacher born in 1861 in Guadalajara, Spain who died in Madrid in 1936. The school is located in Alamedilla Park in Salamanca, Spain near a pond and playground. It was originally built in 1934 but rebuilt in 1978 and contains classrooms, a dining hall, computer room, gymnasium, and playground.
