2. In short, I take a sparkle (product idea) from vision to an implementation. I deal with the
entire minutia, worries and caring, to ensure R&D delivers and the factory deliver. I
manage strategic projects from cradle to grave.
My projects are tied to “conditional access development” to ensure only paying
customers get access to priced content. This typically involves the best encryption
technologies available in the Telco and consumer world.
Working close with the product managers, I ensure all key project deliverables
(requirements, implementation plans, test plans, etc.) are created, reviewed and
approved.
At various project stages, I present high-level project status to the senior leadership team
as specific parts of the SDLC complete. This is to update senior management how the
projects are doing in terms of budget, schedule, quality and features.
Using the full suite of MS-Office (inc. MS Project), I manage, track and status projects on a
weekly basis. Risks are identified, quantified and addressed with some sort of a risk
response – typically mitigation.
I chair weekly meetings with my project teams to meet with all the leads and run down
the action list – while typically adding new ones as they come up. I create project
management documents myself, such as project plans, SOWs, etc. as needed.
I work close with factory and production, to make sure we are ready to build prototypes,
sample runs and production runs as needed. I work with vendors, as needed, to ensure
we have material for initial product.
I continuously work close with product marketing to ensure business and market
dynamics are addressed with current and future projects.
