This document provides an overview of WikiLeaks, including its background, purpose, effects on society, governments' responses, advantages, disadvantages, and privacy issues. It notes that WikiLeaks was founded in 2006 with the goal of publishing confidential information from anonymous sources to promote transparency. While it has created more accountability, it has also threatened national security and damaged diplomacy. Governments and organizations have responded angrily to leaks but others see benefits to greater transparency. However, WikiLeaks publications have also violated individuals' privacy and potentially put some in physical danger.

8. 7. Privacy Issues
• In July, 2016, Wiki leaks posted around
300,000 emails of Turkish Prime Minister.
• After that nearly 20,000 emails and 8,000
attachments from high-level officials in the
Democratic National Committee of US

stalker, ex-partner, disapproving relative, or
random crazy to peruse as they wish.”
9. 7. Privacy Issues
• Turkey is a country, in which hundreds of
women are murdered and thousands go
into hiding on an annual basis.
• Yet, like the Turkey email leak, WikiLeaks
violated the privacy of countless innocent
people in the process.
• Some of those emails included personal
information of donors, including credit card
numbers, Social Security numbers, and even
passport numbers.

• Plus, the leak needlessly exposed well-
intentioned emails from politicians and
professionals trying to do their job.

• On one hand WikiLeaks is exposing country wide
conspiracies, exposing
corruption and making corrupted
• official accountable but on another it’s violating
people’s privacy which can
potentially cause physical harm.
• Truth is WikiLeaks is a cure and a blessing.
