Lost Hiking Adventure Nearly Ends in Disaster

4. It started off really
well, the weather was
great, we knew where
we were and
everything seemed to
be going well…
5. Then we were lost. A grand total of twenty minutes into the hike.
6. But we found our way, climbed a
huge hill that nearly killed us and
managed to get back onto our
route.
Once we had made the big climb
however, we were on the downs for
a long stretch which meant very little
further climbing (although it turned
out our actual route was much flatter
and we were technically still ‘lost’)
8. Our last stop of the day was Cissbury Ring
Fort before we began the long struggle to find
our elusive campsite.

10. Day Two started out with the promise of being a long,
but relatively simple hike to the next campsite. Add
a confusing horse race and extremely hot temperatures
and you end up with a very stressful, very lost 18 miles
to struggle through. But we make it in the end.
11. In the end, it wasn’t the really long hike that nearly killed us, but the fact that we couldn’t
find campsite anywhere. Literally anywhere.

13. The last day was by far the hardest. We were tired, it was the hottest day and everyone
was feeling the weight of their bags. At some points it honestly felt as though we were not
going to make it.
14. We didn’t finish until gone
four o’clock on the third day
and by that point I don’t
know how we finished. It was
very hard but at times was
enjoyable and definitely a
challenge.
