Responsible for management accounting, all aspects of financial
reporting internally and to the granting agencies (European Commission
and National Institute of Health) as well as general operational
management and follow through for funded research projects.
Primary roles:
 Operational management of grant funded research projects and
managing demanding timelines in co-operation with scientists
and partners
 Responsible for performing quarterly and annual financial
closing/accounting for 12 major projects funded by the EC and
NIH acting on behalf of the co-ordinator for four of them.
Financial reporting towards the granting agencies. Ensuring
compliance with granting agencies regulations. These research
grants constitute a significant source of income for the company.
 Provision of information to the CFO, external accountants,
granting agencies and scientific managers on the financial status
of grants, status reports, planning, budgeting, accounting and
cost estimation.
 Communication with foreign and domestic partners in funded
projects and co-ordinating of follow up for annual meetings for
the multinational research grant teams. Preparing and updating
project handbooks and web pages. Preparing scientific reports
towards partners and granting agencies.
 Relations with foreign and domestic institutions and
foundations. Preparation of grant applications and completing
budgets.
 Overseeing Research Executive Agency financial audits
conducted by the European Commission auditors and financial
audits conducted by an US external audit firm for the National
Institute of Health.
