Sponsorship – The Power of Hope
Progressive Ministries Uganda (PMU) children Joram, Mariam, and Philip are
holding photos of their U.S. sponsors. Look into their eyes. Can you see it?
Their eyes reflect hope.
Sponsorship and hope are synonymous to a child trapped in poverty. When
a sponsor steps out in faith and says, “I will fight for this child’s potential,” a
miracle happens – a life is transformed and hope is found.
It’s a powerful thing sponsorship. Knowing their sponsor is behind them,
these kids will grow in the Lord, work harder in school, and dare to plan for
the future. That’s the power of sponsorship. There are 125 children at PMU
that are waiting for a sponsor.
“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after
orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the
world.” – James 1:27
How you can help: Will you exercise your power to transform a
life and become a sponsor today? Sponsorship is only $30 per month.
2. From the Desk of
Innocent:
As a formerly sponsored
child myself, I remember all
too well the sadness I
experienced because my
sponsor only wrote me one
letter throughout my entire
sponsorship.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ll be
forever grateful for the
financial sacrifice my sponsor
made, so I could have a
future.
Children love their sponsors
and long to hear from them.
If you’re a sponsor, can I
appeal to you to send a note
of encouragement to your
sponsored child today?
Logon to the website and
select write a letter. Simply
tell them you’re thinking and
praying for them. It’s as
easy as that!
Thank you for your
partnership,

Home Visits – Sweet Dreams for Kids
PMU staff know children have a better chance of succeeding if they have a
stable and secure home life. Monthly home visits are one way the ministry
ensures children have what they need.
Home visits strengthen the relationship between staff and each
parent/guardian. The learning team also uses the visits to discern if an
intervention is needed.
This month’s visits revealed most children sleep three in a bed. Sweet
dreams were on the horizon, when PMU delivered 25 mattresses to 25
children at the center.
Parents and children joyfully gave thanks to God for solving the bed
problem.
How you can help: Many other children want to have sweet
dreams in a bed of their own. Would you prayerfully consider a donation to
help kids get a bed? The cost of one mattress is $20.
3. On the Frontline – PMU Dedicated Staff
PMU could not exist without its dedicated staff. Their faithfulness to the
ministry and the holistic development of our students is essential to our
success.
We currently have 14 qualified teachers and staff working with the children
each day. These are the folks who work tirelessly to teach, clean, cook, and
conduct home visits for each child at the center.
Like sponsors and donors, our staff stand in the gap for children in poverty.
Please pray for them. Ask God to bless them for the sacrificial love they
bestow on the kids.
How you can help: Would you prayerfully consider supporting
the teacher salary fund by donating $50 per month?

Field Trip – Kabale District Museum
The PMU Learning Center enhanced its curriculum this summer by taking
students to the local museum. Field trips make way for informal learning
which can awaken and inspire the imagination.
The children enjoyed learning about the “ancient days” and how their
ancestors worked the land with primitive tools. They left the museum with a
greater awareness of Ugandan history and the strong heritage of its people.
Kids loved this trip, special thanks to Partners of PMU for your generous
giving to the ministry.
Sustainable Farming – Harvest Time
PMU’s desire is to be fully self-
sustainable. We currently have five
milk cows and we farm sweet
potatoes, beans, maize, and Irish
potatoes.
The dairy and farming programs are
two ministry activities that help us
move towards our goal. This photo
shows our Irish potato garden
which will be ready for harvest in
late September.
Produce from our farm supplements the meal program at the learning
center. Excess crops are sold to the greater Kabale community. Proceeds
from crop sales are used for ministry purposes.
How you can help: Would you prayerfully consider donating
towards the Ministry Monthly Expenses? Become a donor today!
