A graduate of Boston University with a master of arts in political science, Ian Chinich has served as a customer service representative with Automated Health Systems since 2016. Outside of work, Ian Chinich enjoys planning trips to international destinations such as Iceland, where he spent several weeks in July 2021. Many travelers to Iceland choose to tour the Ring Road, an 800-mile route that begins and ends in the capital city of Reykjavik. Ideally, travelers take a week or more to make the loop, allowing sufficient time to visit attractions such as the Golden Circle, which encompasses the Þingvellir national park, the geothermal area Geysir, and the Gullfoss waterfall. Travelers can move in a counterclockwise direction from Reykjavik toward south Iceland, where they will see stunning waterfalls and a black sand beach at Vik, as well as unique rock formations at Reynisdrangar and Dyrhólaey. Moving toward the east, travelers pass fjords and fishing villages, before arriving at the Lake Mývatn area in the north. Here, natural wonders include the Krafla volcano and Húsavík, also known as the whale watching capital of the country. Farther west, history buffs might enjoy a stop at Eiríksstaðir, the home of famous Viking Erik the Red.
