This poem describes the seasons in Edo through short phrases. Spring brings new life as everything warms up and pink petals float. Summer is very hot as swans are out in the country and water is needed. Autumn sees red leaves falling and children jumping in piles, as the wind blows. Winter makes everyone cold but children are happy, and the pond is frozen.
