Water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen atoms and is found naturally on Earth in solid, liquid, and gas forms. It flows through a continuous water cycle of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation between bodies of water, the atmosphere, and land. Most of Earth's water is salt water found in oceans, while fresh water is stored in ice caps, glaciers, groundwater, lakes, rivers, swamps, and the atmosphere.
