Instructor Certification Course (M4 | AR-15)
HOSTILE CONTROL TACTICS is listed in the Central Contractor Registry of the Department of
Defense as approved provider of Anti-terrorism Force Protection) training to the United States
government. Between 2003 and today, literally thousands of elite security specialist from around
the world have undergone HCT training prior to overseas deployment supporting the war on
terrorism.
Course Description
This intensive five day training program offers comprehensive education and training in modern
MIL/LE techniques, tactics and principles required of competent instructors responsible for the
management and delivery of AR-15 and M-4 rifle training to others.
The purpose of this course is educate, prepare and certify persons as competent firearms
instructors who will thereafter return to their agency, department or company and professionally to
instruct, evaluate and certify others in the safe use and effective of the M-4 or AR-15 rifle.
Target Audience
Male or females ranging in age from 18 to 65.
Duration
Five (5) Days | 40 Hours
Starting promptly at 9am each day with some modules extending well into the evening hours.
Class Capacity
Maximum of wenty-four (24) with an instructor to student ratio of 1-to-5.
Enrollment Prerequisites
This course is not open to the general public. Course attendees must satisfy one or more criteria
for acceptance:
 Active or veteran military service; OR
 Active or prior sworn law enforcement; OR
 Civil servant; OR
 One (1) year of armed commercial security experience
 Excellent physical, medical and psychological health
 No felony criminal history, no history of drug or alcohol abuse and no history of domestic
violence.

STANDARDS
1. United States Army Standards
a. Course curriculum, delivery criteria and training methodologies are
derived from and based on official US Army Department of Defense
military doctrine.
b. Additional materials, training concepts, and principles are drawn from the
National Rifle Association (NRA) Firearms Instructor Program.
2. Training Methodologies
a. All training is conducted in a professional manner, in a clean and well
equipped environment.
b. HCT instructors employ modern teaching strategies to promote effective
learning in adult auditory learners, visual learners, surface learners and
deeper learners. We incorporate techniques developed by Dr. Gregory
Bateson PhD., a psychologist, behavioral scientist, author and pioneer in
effective adult learning strategies.
c. Our course utilizes audio/video film, PowerPoint© presentations, slide
shows, instructor lecture, focus group study and interactive dialogue from
all attendees.
d. HCT introduces physical attribute development drills which are executed
for extended periods of time. This form of training ‘rewires’ or re-programs
the fight-or-flight nervous system to respond instinctively in the desired
manner.
R.O.P.E.S. Training Model:
 Review; to conduct a review of the learners' general knowledge of and experience
with the topic.
 Overview; to establish a connection between the learners and the training content
that will engage the learner and motivate them to learn.
 Present; the content to learners in ways that helps them comprehend and retain
the information.
 Exercises; to enable the learners to practice using the training content in order to
build and reinforce skills.
 Summarize; to clarify what was learned and bring closure to the training sessions.
Incorporates focus group study and skill assessment evaluation.
CONDITIONS
Training is conducted in several environments:
 10% indoor classroom.
 90% outdoor field exercises

GEAR, CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT TO BRING
 Casual clothing (polo shirts and jeans are acceptable) a raincoat. A laptop computer is not
mandatory, but will prove be helping in academic portions.
 Casual clothing (polo shirts and jeans are acceptable) *Clothing suitable for shooting in
standing, kneeling and prone positions
 Note pad/Note book, ink pens and/or a laptop computer
 Sunscreen and insect repellent
 Water hydration system
o Weapon-mounted flashlight
o Eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap
o Duty belt with holster and magazine carriers
o Duty pistol with at least 2 magazines
o AR-15 or M-4 rifle with iron sights
o Sling and at least 2 magazines, Flashlight
o Knee pads, elbow pads, gun cleaning kit and *body armor (optional).
 Ammunition Requirements: 3000 rounds of rifle ammunition
(Ammunition is available for purchase upon request)
 Ammunition must be new manufacture (Federal, Remington, Winchester,
etc.)
TUITION
$1,150.00 per person – includes hotel lodging and a Certificate of Competency.
A minimum non-refundable deposit of $300.00 per person is required to guarantee a seat. Deposits
must be submitted no less than fifteen (15) business days prior to arrival. The remaining balance
must be paid upon immediately upon arrival and prior to actual training. *Absolute no refunds for
no shows.
In-house financing is available for all courses. No credit check, no interest and no prepayment
penalty. *Minimum deposit $300.00 down.

COURSE CONTENT
TACTICAL CARBINE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
*Depending on the skill level and knowledge of attendees the delivery of certain
content may be modified to accomplish learning objectives.
Module 1: Covers the unique technical specifications, the mechanics and
functions each carbine. Its’ features, benefits, pros and cons, and in-field
applications. Firearms safety review.
Module 2: Nomenclature of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Disassembly and re-assembly
of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Function checking the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Mechanical
operation of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Preventive maintenance and cleaning of the
AR-15 / M-4 rifle.
Module 3: Modern theories and principles of teaching adult learners.
Module 4: How to conceive and develop academically sound, industry compliant
tactical training curriculum. Actual syllabus and lesson plan development.
Module 5: Use of conventional and tactical sling systems.
Module 6: Sight adjustment and zeroing.
Module 7: Loading, unloading and reloading the AR-15 / M-4 rifle.
Module 8: Weapons presentation from low ready, high ready and contact ready
positions. Shooting positions - standing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and prone
Module 9: Operating the AR-15 / M-4 rifle during semi-automatic fire. Operating
the M-4 rifle during controlled automatic fire. Malfunction clearance techniques.
Module 10: Transition to secondary weapon system. Practical attribute
development drills to develop instinctive reflex.
Module 11: Use of cover while moving and shooting. Cover drills. Injured officer
shooting positions. Movement off the line of force. Threat assessment and area
scanning. Communicating on the move and from covered or concealed positions.
Module 12: Multiple target shooting drills. Delivering controlled pairs and
accelerated pairs.
Module 13: Shooting on the move. The mechanics of proper footwork, pacing,
situational awareness. Static turns and pivots.

Module 14: Shooting in low light, low visibility conditions. Weak hand shooting.
Module 15: Close Quarter Battle (CQB) principles of stacking, bump/tap and
movement. Clearing stairwells, hallways and T-intersections.
Man vs. man stress course.
 Written examination.
 Instructor oral presentations.
 Instructor live-fire range presentations.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Course attendees will be expected to conduct “Teach Backs” of material
presented in the course. It is imperative course attendees be able to demonstrate
explain in clear, concise language why a certain techniques, principles or a piece of gear
is more effective or better than other options.
Persons who perform certain movements or techniques in a manner different than what
is taught by HCT may do so as long as they can explain the tactical benefits, advantages
and proper mechanics of that subject.

Tactical Carbine Operator Instructor Certification Course (M4 | AR-15) HOSTILE CONTROL TACTICS is listed in the Central Contractor Registry of the Department of Defense as approved provider of Anti-terrorism Force Protection) training to the United States government. Between 2003 and today, literally thousands of elite security specialist from around the world have undergone HCT training prior to overseas deployment supporting the war on terrorism. Course Description This intensive five day training program offers comprehensive education and training in modern MIL/LE techniques, tactics and principles required of competent instructors responsible for the management and delivery of AR-15 and M-4 rifle training to others. The purpose of this course is educate, prepare and certify persons as competent firearms instructors who will thereafter return to their agency, department or company and professionally to instruct, evaluate and certify others in the safe use and effective of the M-4 or AR-15 rifle. Target Audience Male or females ranging in age from 18 to 65. Duration Five (5) Days | 40 Hours Starting promptly at 9am each day with some modules extending well into the evening hours. Class Capacity Maximum of wenty-four (24) with an instructor to student ratio of 1-to-5. Enrollment Prerequisites This course is not open to the general public. Course attendees must satisfy one or more criteria for acceptance:  Active or veteran military service; OR  Active or prior sworn law enforcement; OR  Civil servant; OR  One (1) year of armed commercial security experience  Excellent physical, medical and psychological health  No felony criminal history, no history of drug or alcohol abuse and no history of domestic violence.

Course curriculum, delivery criteria and training methodologies are derived from and based on official US Army Department of Defense military doctrine. b. Additional materials, training concepts, and principles are drawn from the National Rifle Association (NRA) Firearms Instructor Program. 2. Training Methodologies a. All training is conducted in a professional manner, in a clean and well equipped environment. b. HCT instructors employ modern teaching strategies to promote effective learning in adult auditory learners, visual learners, surface learners and deeper learners. We incorporate techniques developed by Dr. Gregory Bateson PhD., a psychologist, behavioral scientist, author and pioneer in effective adult learning strategies. c. Our course utilizes audio/video film, PowerPoint© presentations, slide shows, instructor lecture, focus group study and interactive dialogue from all attendees. d. HCT introduces physical attribute development drills which are executed for extended periods of time. This form of training ‘rewires’ or re-programs the fight-or-flight nervous system to respond instinctively in the desired manner. R.O.P.E.S. Training Model:  Review; to conduct a review of the learners' general knowledge of and experience with the topic.  Overview; to establish a connection between the learners and the training content that will engage the learner and motivate them to learn.  Present; the content to learners in ways that helps them comprehend and retain the information.  Exercises; to enable the learners to practice using the training content in order to build and reinforce skills.  Summarize; to clarify what was learned and bring closure to the training sessions. Incorporates focus group study and skill assessment evaluation. CONDITIONS Training is conducted in several environments:  10% indoor classroom.  90% outdoor field exercises

GEAR, CLOTHING & EQUIPMENT TO BRING  Casual clothing (polo shirts and jeans are acceptable) a raincoat. A laptop computer is not mandatory, but will prove be helping in academic portions.  Casual clothing (polo shirts and jeans are acceptable) *Clothing suitable for shooting in standing, kneeling and prone positions  Note pad/Note book, ink pens and/or a laptop computer  Sunscreen and insect repellent  Water hydration system o Weapon-mounted flashlight o Eye protection, ear protection, baseball type cap o Duty belt with holster and magazine carriers o Duty pistol with at least 2 magazines o AR-15 or M-4 rifle with iron sights o Sling and at least 2 magazines, Flashlight o Knee pads, elbow pads, gun cleaning kit and *body armor (optional).  Ammunition Requirements: 3000 rounds of rifle ammunition (Ammunition is available for purchase upon request)  Ammunition must be new manufacture (Federal, Remington, Winchester, etc.) TUITION $1,150.00 per person – includes hotel lodging and a Certificate of Competency. A minimum non-refundable deposit of $300.00 per person is required to guarantee a seat. Deposits must be submitted no less than fifteen (15) business days prior to arrival. The remaining balance must be paid upon immediately upon arrival and prior to actual training. *Absolute no refunds for no shows. In-house financing is available for all courses. COURSE CONTENT TACTICAL CARBINE INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION *Depending on the skill level and knowledge of attendees the delivery of certain content may be modified to accomplish learning objectives. Module 1: Covers the unique technical specifications, the mechanics and functions each carbine. Its’ features, benefits, pros and cons, and in-field applications. Firearms safety review. Module 2: Nomenclature of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Disassembly and re-assembly of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Function checking the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Mechanical operation of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Preventive maintenance and cleaning of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Module 3: Modern theories and principles of teaching adult learners. Module 4: How to conceive and develop academically sound, industry compliant tactical training curriculum. Actual syllabus and lesson plan development. Module 5: Use of conventional and tactical sling systems. Module 6: Sight adjustment and zeroing. Module 7: Loading, unloading and reloading the AR-15 / M-4 rifle. Module 8: Weapons presentation from low ready, high ready and contact ready positions. Shooting positions - standing, squatting, kneeling, sitting and prone Module 9: Operating the AR-15 / M-4 rifle during semi-automatic fire. Operating the M-4 rifle during controlled automatic fire. Malfunction clearance techniques. Module 10: Transition to secondary weapon system. Practical attribute development drills to develop instinctive reflex. Module 11: Use of cover while moving and shooting. Cover drills. Injured officer shooting positions. Movement off the line of force. Threat assessment and area scanning. Communicating on the move and from covered or concealed positions. Module 12: Multiple target shooting drills. Delivering controlled pairs and accelerated pairs. Module 13: Shooting on the move. The mechanics of proper footwork, pacing, situational awareness. Static turns and pivots.

Weak hand shooting. Module 15: Close Quarter Battle (CQB) principles of stacking, bump/tap and movement. Clearing stairwells, hallways and T-intersections. Man vs. man stress course.  Written examination.  Instructor oral presentations.  Instructor live-fire range presentations. EVALUATION CRITERIA Course attendees will be expected to conduct “Teach Backs” of material presented in the course. It is imperative course attendees be able to demonstrate explain in clear, concise language why a certain techniques, principles or a piece of gear is more effective or better than other options. Persons who perform certain movements or techniques in a manner different than what is taught by HCT may do so as long as they can explain the tactical benefits, advantages and proper mechanics of that subject.
