1. Academic Scholarship
Academic Scholarship reflects the primary reason why
Hermanos attend an institution of higher learning: to
receive a quality education and to better ourselves as
students and professionals. We provide a work-study
environment in order to maintain excellent academic
standing and achieve graduation. Our Hermanos are
expected to complete 20 study hours per quarter to
ensure academic success.
Community Service
Community service represents an Hermano’s commit-
ment to community involvement. It is crucial that our
Hermanos become conscious of the issues that affect
our communities and that they can have a role in
diminishing them. By serving our communities, our
Hermanos will gain leadership skills and a sense of
comradery. Hermanos Unidos will make every effort
to recognize and achieve the goal of community ser-
vice together.
Social Networking
Social Networking is a powerful way to promote one-
self. We provide opportunities to connect with other
organizations and familias on and off campus. Fur-
thermore, our Hermanos develop “Fuerza en la her-
mandad”- strength through a unified brotherhood. By
establishing a strong social bond, Hermanos will be
able to network and create strong friendships that will
be beneficial in their future.
About Us
Hermanos Unidos is a recognized 501(c)3 tax-exempt
non-profit Latino/male based organization and was first
established in 1989 at the University of California,
Berkeley. Since then, Hermanos Unidos has expanded
to multiple universities across California, assisting in
the graduation of many Latinos. We are dedicated to
the advancement of young Latino males into academic
scholars, community leaders, and young professionals.
By instilling the values represented through our three
pillars of success- Academic Excellence, Community
Service, and Social Networking- our members work to
breakdown cultural stereotypes and strive to become
“El Nuevo Hombre.”
