Who: Approx. 80 photographers living and working in Louisiana, both internationally recognized
photographers and emerging photographers. Exhibition curated by Don Marshall
Description:
“Just as New Orleans and Louisiana have been the inspiration for so many of America's
greatest musicians, the same can be said for its impact on photography and photographers in
America. The Louisiana Photography Biennial is designed to showcase the extraordinary
number of great photographers living and working in our state.” -Curator Don Marshall.
The first Louisiana Photography Biennial Art Exhibition, curated by Don Marshall, opens on
October 8th
at 6pm at the New Orleans Art Center, coinciding with the St. Claude 2nd
Saturdays
Art Walk. The Exhibition will run through November 19th
, 2016 and will feature
approximately 80 photographers. Don Marshall, former Director of the CAC and current
Executive Director of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, curated and launched the
first Bywater Biennial Art Exhibition and La Femme in the New Orleans Art Center space
featuring over 180 artists in total.
The Louisiana Photography Biennial will feature works by internationally recognized
photographers such as Josephine Sacabo, Frank Relle, Gus Bennett, Max Becherer and Cedric
Angeles to the work of the most recent wave of young photographers calling Louisiana home.
The exhibition is a true celebration of the amazing community of photographers in Louisiana
and their exceptional talents. The New Orleans Art Center is located in the Bywater in the
blossoming St. Claude Arts Corridor and features over 6,000 sq. feet of exhibition space.
