Colored plastic film selection for agriculture
Agricultural film refers to the thin agricultural film directly covering the cultivation
border or near the ground. The general thickness is 0.008-0.015 mm. Because of the
different absorption and reflectance laws of different colors of agricultural film, the
effects on crop growth and weeds, pests and diseases and ground temperature are also
different. Therefore, we should choose different colors of agricultural film according
to different crops and planting season.
Colorless transparent mulch film
Usually also known as the ordinary film, the thickness is 0.015 mm, width is 80-300
cm, its transmittance and thermal radiation rate are more than 90%, there is a certain
effect of reflect light. It is widely used in spring to increase water temperature and
store water and soil moisture. In addition, it can also improve soil microbial activity
and improve soil and organic matter content.

performance. Under the condition of weak light irradiation, the transmittance is higher
than that of the ordinary film. Under the condition of strong light irradiation, the
transmittance is lower than that of the ordinary film, and the thermal insulation
performance is good. It has strong seedlings, many roots and high seedling rate. Used
in vegetables, peanuts and strawberries and other crops, it can inhibit the growth of
black spot pathogen of cruciferous vegetables, and has obvious effect of increasing
yield and improving quality. It can also be used to cover vegetable, cotton, peanut,
strawberry, potato and other crops.
Green film
The green film mulching can reduce the visible light and effect of the plant and
increase the green light, which can inhibit the formation of chlorophyll, reduce the
photosynthesis of the weeds under the mulch, and inhibit the growth of weeds. It has a
stronger effect on soil temperature than the black film, but it is inferior to the
transparent film. Therefore, the role of green plastic film is mainly weeding and
warming. It can replace the black plastic film for weeding in spring. It also promotes
the growth of the upper part and improves the quality of eggplant, sweet pepper,
strawberry and other crops. However, green mulching film is more expensive, easy to
be aged, and shorter in service life, so it can be used for ground cover on some crops
with high economic value or when facilities are cultivated.

The black and white double-sided mulch is milky white on one side and black on the
other, with thickness of 0.02-0.025 mm. Milky white upward, reflective cooling effect;
black downward, herbicidal effect. The effect of cooling and weeding in summer is
better than that of black film. Therefore, it is mainly used in summer and autumn
vegetable, melon and fruit for heat resistance cultivation, which has the functions of
cooling, water holding, light increasing, and grass cutting.

Red mulch can stimulate crop growth more than black plastic film. Plants will use
more energy to carry out photosynthesis on the aerial parts. Red film can transmit red
light and block other color light transmission which is not conducive to the growth of
crops, thus making the crops grow vigorously. It has been proved that the red film can
meet the needs of red light, such as rice, corn and sugar beet. It can make rice
seedlings grow exuberant, sugar content in sugar beet increases, carrots grow larger,
the leaf width of leek is thick and the harvest time is early.
In addition to the above colored film, there are also milky white plastic film, yellow
plastic film and purple plastic film. The thermal radiation rate of the milk white film
is 80-90%, close to the transparent film, and the transmittance was only 40%. It had a
certain inhibitory effect on the weeds. It was mainly used in the spread covering,
which could solve the serious problem of the transparent mulching. Planting
cucumber with yellow film can promote its bud blossom, increase yield 1-1.5 times,
and cover the cultivation of celery and lettuce, the plants grow tall, bolting is delayed,
the dwarf lentils are covered, the plants grow in the internode and the legumes grow
sturdy. The effect of purple film on spinach is increasing yield, postponing bolting and
prolonging the season.
