Here in the can-do Goldfields we’ve long had the reputation of doing things our way: we build our own roads and blast our own dams if government stands on the tail of progress too long.
So it’s no surprise Touch of Gold has always approached Toastmasters slightly differently and we intend to put on a unique convention that will be talked about for decades.
You’ll catch your own dose of gold fever after you’ve panned for gold, watched a mining display by our world-famous WASM Wombats, toured Australia’s biggest open pit gold mine, bought a beer from a Kalgoorlie pub skimpy and had a go at Bush Two-up.
Everything is very accessible in Kalgoorlie. Pubs on every corner and historical buildings line the main street.
As a special treat those who venture to Kalgoorlie early on the Friday night will be entertained at Langtrees (a former working brothel and now Boutique Hotel) with a gourmet meal and a tour.
You can fly, train or drive to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, where accommodation ranges from the historical Palace Hotel for those on a budget, to the voluptuous brothel-themed rooms at Langtrees for the adventurous and for those who prefer luxury, the Yelverton.

Ryan Avery, is the youngest World Champion of Public Speaking in history competing against more than 30,000 people from 116 countries to claim the 2012 World Championship title. Ryan is our guest speaker and is very keen to run workshops to improve your speaking skills.
The gala event will be the Gold Rush Ball, on the Sunday night in the magnificent Kalgoorlie Town Hall, which really has to be seen to be believed.
Don’t go home without viewing the Super Pit. It produces up to 850,000 ounces of gold every year and its operation far outweighs any other mining centre in Australia. The Super Pit is the biggest gold open pit mine in the country. If golfing is your thing, bring your clubs and play on our very challenging, world class, Graham Marsh designed 18 hole Kalgoorlie Golf Course.
The Kalgoorlie Golf Course is a premier, 18 hole golf course designed by top course designer Graham Marsh. It is anticipated that the course will become one of the top 10 desert golf courses in the world so don’t forget to bring you clubs and give it a workout before you go home.
As a special incentive to those willing to sign up the Early Bird Registration you will go in the draw to win this gift of bottled gold. Just like the possession of a gold nugget, you will treasure it, gaze on it, caress it, and finally quaff it down like a thirsty pioneer on his way to digging up his first gold nugget. All early bird registrations in by the D17 Quiz night in October, go into the drawer.
Our thanks to Binduli Wine for donating this treasure.
