Land Section Manager, Coastal Restoration Division, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Baton
Rouge, LA, February 1994 to September 2007
Started and developed the role of the land section for the Coastal Restoration Division. This included
developing easement format, landowner contact protocols, mapping databases, and managing
landman contractors who performed the necessary title work and mineral history work required for
assuring proper ownership. The mapping database was developed in coordination with an ESRI
designer and a Filemaker Pro developer. The database not only allowed for real time viewing of tract
ownership information, but also provided a document tracking system so that the location of
documents in process was always known. Staff development and supervisory skills were enhanced by
mandatory state management training that included employee planning and evaluation.
Land Research and GIS Mapping for Digitizing Project for Parish Tax Assessor,
Schmieder and Associates, Baton Rouge, LA, February 1993 to January 1994
Performed extensive parish courthouse records to determine current ownership and parcel
configuration, compiled all research and created tax assessor base maps.
Draftsman/Geological Technician, Getty Oil; Williams Exploration; Texas Gas Exploration; CSX,
Houston, TX 1978 to 1989
Geological, geophysical, land draftsman. Moved into geological technician position before Getty was
purchased in 1983. I worked in these same capacities for the other E&P companies listed above
between 1978 and 1989 when I returned to graduate school. Following graduate school I studied
Autocad drafting and acquired a real estate license before returning to work in 1993.
