5. โช Self-isolation is when
you do not leave
your home because
you have or might
have coronavirus
(Covid-19)
โช This helps stop the
virus spreading to
other people
What is self-isolation and why
6. When to self-isolate
1. You must self-isolate immediately if:
You have any symptoms of coronavirus :
a high temperature,
a new, continuous cough
loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
2. You have tested positive for coronavirus โ this means you
have coronavirus

7. If anyone in the
household has symptoms
or has tested positive
This also applies to your
support bubble if you have
been together in the 2 days
before you got symptoms
or tested positive
When the whole
household doesn't
need to self-isolate
If no one has symptoms or has
tested positive, but someone
has been identified as a
contact of a case outside of the
household. Only the
contact(s) needs to self-isolate
When the whole
household needs to
self-isolate
8. Self-Isolation โ what you need to do
โข Do not leave your home for any reason โ if you need
food or medicine, order it online or by phone, or ask
friends and family to drop it off at your home
โข Do not have visitors in your home, including friends and
family โ except for essential care
โข Try to avoid contact with anyone you live with as much
as possible
9. How to avoid spreading Covid to people you live with
โข Try to stay away from the people
you live with as much as possible
โข Stay on your own in one room
and keep the door closed
โข Avoid using shared spaces, for
example, the kitchen at the same
time as other people โ eat your
meals in your room
โข Use a separate bathroom, or use
it after everyone else and clean it
after you have used it
10. You'll be contacted by email, text or phone
โข Text messages will come from NHStracing
โข Calls will come from 0300 0135 000

guardian's permission to continue the call

tracing.phe.gov.uk
โข If you cannot use the contact tracing website, they will call you
What to expect when you are contacted by
NHS Test and Trace

isolation guidance isn't followed

delivery to be left on your doorstep
Caring responsibilities Make a back-up plan so you have peace of mind that whoever you care for will
continue to be looked after
Who it inform Maybe -
Work?
School?
Any voluntary positions that you have?
Getting help What to do if your coronavirus symptoms get worse
