2. FADE IN:
INT. CLASSROOM. MID-AFTERNOON.
Cliche’ americanised classroom, has a yellowy mellow
feel.
A bell rings and the students exit, Evan is packing up
his bag, but his teacher catches him and tells him he’s
in detention. Evan throws his bag onto a chair beside him
and slumps back into his seat.
Evan has fallen asleep at their desk, presumably during a
detention which is made obvious by a camera pan on a
clock, indicating 3:15PM. Camera focuses on a computer,
before changing focus to a teacher, passive and
oblivious, watching the monitor.
The student cautiously watches the teacher as they lower
their head onto the desk (or arms) and hides behind
monitor, trying to sleep. At this point, attention is
brought to the ticking of the clock, which fades into a
blackout.
INT. CLASSROOM. MID-AFTERNOON, LATER.
When the blackout ends, we are greeted with a POV shot
from the student’s perspective.
Room is dimmed, the world outside the windows looks icy
and unforgiving, with a cold atmosphere, blues etc.
Possible use of fog machine to introduce an eery,
graveyard-like essence.
Camera indicates the teacher’s chair to be empty, perhaps
with a slight spin on it, to indicate that the classroom
had emptied abruptly.
Camera is attracted to the clock, which seems to have
stopped ticking, or is jammed. Makes a contrast to the
rhythmic ticking shown before.
The camera pans to the student, from feet to head.
EVAN
(Eyes still closed, mouth partially open as a result of
sleep. Slumped forward on seat. Sharply.)
Snores..
3. " .2
Audible sound of scraping from outside the classroom.
Student slowly awakes, looking from side to side slowly,
heavy focus on eye movement.
Camera focuses on hand which is relaxed on the desk,
fingers twitch, but barely move.
Camera back to student face, expresses confusion.
Furrowed eyebrows. The sharp sound of a bottle tipping
over, the sound of projector, white noise.
Scraping sound comes back, overpowering other noises.
Room quietens. Scraping sound ensues, before abruptly
stopping. Pause for several moments. Camera between the
cracks of the door/window watching the student, the
feeling of something closing in. Evan, unaware and
relieved closes eyes only to quickly open them again at
the sound of door opening.
Camera pans across the legs of a figure in the doorway,
standing center, from behind the Evan the camera follows
the figure as it stylistically glides in.
White noise comes back into play as the figure slowly
glides behind the student, just out of focus. Birds eye
view of the movement, POV of Evan and the figure. Evan is
moving his eyes as the figure moves behind him.
The figure reaches Evan’s left side and slowly turns 180
degree to face the front, leaning down slowly, the figure
opens it’s mouth, emitting a loud, inhuman siren-esque
wail. Slow.
The bell rings and Evan startles, flinging back on his
chair in panic and realising that he’s undisturbed. The
teacher, who was visibly snoring infant of his computer,
head down.
TEACHER
(startled, standing)
What do you think you’re doing, boy?

EVAN
(looking around the room frantically, stuttering,
eyebrows raised in surprise)
I-I thought?
TEACHER
(settling back into his chair, looking at his watch and
then indicating the door)
Detention’s up, you can go home.
Evan grabs his bag and throws it over his shoulders,
stumbling as he exits the classroom. Teacher can be heard
as he leaves.
TEACHER
And close the door behind you!
Evan stands outside the classroom, the door slowly
closing behind him. He looks around before cautiously
starting to walk down the stairs, his footsteps breaking
the silence. He grips the handrail, looking over the
edge.
Underneath the stairs, we see Evan squint from the
railing and begin walking again.
As he exits the building and walks up the path, he
notices a girl walking slowly in front of him, wearing
blue. She slows down to a halt, and Evan squints at her
as he inevitably walks closer, unsure.
He passes her, and as she becomes visible behind him, we
see her jaw open, and a loud siren emits.
Realisation on Evan’s face.
