Once upon a time.. Some 1.8Mn years ago, There were people who lived by hunting, fishing, and gathering wild sources of food and did nothing more than that..
Then do you recall what happened to them.. They evolved over time when sometime like 12000 years ago they began to agrarian society from nomadic society..
Where the focus became farming and agriculture…and continued till 18th century..
then later came the industrial revolutions..19th -20th century …
Post industrial revolution.. Society development changed to services which generated more wealth than manufacturing.. The economy underwent a transition from the production of goods to the provision of services…. That’s what happened in 20-21 century..
NOW IN THE 21st century of this current DIGITAL ECONOMY< DIGITAL ERA< WHAT IS HAPPENING??? IS it still services? It IS the CREATIVITY Which is ruling… IT IS era of PRODUCTS…
Amid the market changes being triggered by the fourth industrial revolution, we are seeing a notable shift in skills priorities as the role of people and technology in organizations continues to blur.
Since the economy or society is changing what should we do.. Should I stick to my java programming..? Should I continue doing manual testing.. ? Should I write documents as a tech writer?
Lets see and understand what is happening.. around us..?

How many of you have visited a bank branch in last 3 months? What did you go for?
With online banks and online financial services from google pay, paytm ..
During my school in 1990s.. I had visited Eicher motors and saw an assembly line there which was to great extend looked like left pic but instead of robots it was humans.. I found it pretty risky, safety was the concern I had in my mind and on asking they told all safety measures are followed by staff and there is HSE dept which takes care of providing trainings and so.. And then found one guy doing welding without wearing glasses.. On asking that guy immediately wore it..
And now if you visit the manufacturing assembly and find robots doing the assembly or spraying paint don’t panic it is pretty common.. Things have changed a lot..
The food we get to eat is by efforts of the farmers who cultivate to make a marginal income.. In India still 40-45% of industry is agri,. Things have been changing here.. Instead of bullocks, Ox, there are drones, autonomous machines, doing labor intensive work at high speed and with high efficiency.. Results are good productivity.. High produce..
Vertical farming another area.. Old shutdown factories are transforming to this.. Organic , no soil, no sun..
School where we used to finish the lunch in the 4th period hiding from teacher just before lunch so we can go out and play for complete break.. The learning approach is transforming with AR VR.. It is highly impressive to learn this way kids remember much better things with practical insights than just theory learnings.
There are many more examples which is like never ending... Even in healthcare it is revolutionary ideas which are happening… from predicting diseases to surgery everywhere robots, AI is being leveraged.
Even with current AI methods, we will soon see dramatic changes in how software is written. The success of AlphaGo seems to be quite significant in this regard.
Create, modify, and test the code, forms, and script that allow computer applications to run. Work from specifications drawn up by software developers or other individuals. May assist software developers by analyzing user needs and designing software solutions. May develop and write computer programs to store, locate, and retrieve specific documents, data, and information.
Humans are highly likely to delegate work involving repetitive, boring, unsafe, unhealthy, costly, time-consuming and large amounts of tasks to machines…the work we anyway hate to do!
Machine might perform tasks or activities, but not entirely replace humans because many jobs would still require human judgment. We are most likely going to work together alongside.
No doubt, eventually some low-end jobs will go away, Jobs won’t entirely disappear; many will simply be redefined.
new high-value jobs would be created and those able (and willing) to re-skill and adapt will move up the food chain
But people will likely lack new skillsets required for new roles and be out of work anyway.
See jobs with creativity and human judgement are less possible for automation
In Future of Jobs report published in 2016, the World Economic Forum (WEF) detected a change in the skills requirements of the digitally-enabled service economy
billionaire Warren Buffett has repeatedly said that the single best investment that a person can make is investing in their skill development
Passion leads to mastery..
Steve Jobs once said, “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying, I’ve done something wonderful. That’s what matters.”
Examples:
Understanding the job and how it fits into a typical organization.
Being flexible and adaptable to change.
Committed to performing the job well and meeting employment requirements.
Practical and analytical in contributing to job improvement.
Able to work well as part of and in conjunction with a team.
In my opinion, it isn't "only" the employee’s responsibility. It is in an employer’s interest to help their staff improve - both in terms of retention and helping people develop. At the same time, I think it’s up to all of us (employees) to try to improve our craft. This means developers need to take a more proactive approach to learning. Software development is not a 9 to 5 profession. To be a professional software developer, we need to take our own time and effort to keep learning and improving. We own our careers and are responsible for the same. Many employers invest time and money into training their employees. However, we should not take that for granted. We should take advantage of these training opportunities. At the same time, we also should make conscious efforts to crystallize the learnings and make them more effective by constant learning and practice.
Growth mindset: the understanding that abilities and intelligence can be developed.
Leads to a desire to learn and therefore embrace challenges, persist in the face off setbacks, see effort as the paths to mastery, learn from criticism, find lessons and inspiration in the success of others..
As a result, they reach ever-higher levels of achievement. All this gives them a greater sense of free will.
Dr. Dweck coined the terms fixed mindset and growth mindset to describe the underlying beliefs people have about learning and intelligence. When students believe they can get smarter, they understand that effort makes them stronger.
Proactive
Tell about your own story..
Saw the upcoming tech trends and industry trends and so foresight is imp. See what is going to happen.. Check the initiatives company is taking.. Stay aware of what happening in company and take volunteer work in those things..
Teach, mentor, guide junior employees. .. Take interviews on behalf of your managers.. Support them…
Most people are born creative. As children, we revel in imaginary play, ask outlandish questions, draw blobs and call them dinosaurs. But over time, because of socialization and formal education, a lot of us start to stifle those impulses.
According to a recent IBM survey of chief executives around the world, it’s the most sought-after trait in leaders today.
No one can deny that creative thinking has enabled the rise and continued success of countless companies, from start-ups like Facebook and Google to stalwarts like Procter & Gamble and General Electric.
we feel the fear of embarrassment of our peers which causes us to be conservative in our thinking..
Kids have no embarrasment..
kids feel secured in trusted environment.. feel most to play..
kids play with building blocks.. they make .. knock it down and then make again.. that is learning by doing...
