2. LIGHTING
Very dim lighting will be used in order to
create an eerie atmosphere which will
intimidate the audience and will cause
tension. It will signify the beginning of the
climax, which will ultimately lead to the end
of the film and the resolution.
3. PROPS OF CONNOTATION
Glasses of alcohol will be used in my short
film in order to signify weak and fragile
mentality that someone with mental
illness, or someone being haunted would
have. It can be linked with depression,
drinking is a common activity associated
with nights out or indoors.
4. PROPS OF CONNOTATION
The use of the football is a signifier of
equilibrium since young people find
pleasure in playing football. As it is
associated with childhood hobbies as well
as success and ambitions.
5. HAIRSTYLES, MAKE-UP, COSTUMES
My actors are required to dress
casual in our film, as it is a normal
realist film without any
expressionist themes and
conventions that require specific
costumes, hairstyles or Make-Up.
To the right is an example of
casual clothing.
6. SETTINGS
The house we film in will be a small house and will be
used to bring an intimidating atmosphere. Since the
kitchen is small with a bar it is ideal to resemble the
feature film ‘The Shining’ where Jack gets served by a
bartender which is actually his own illusion caused by
the hotel. The use of the football field will be used just to
introduce a less intimidating scene so that the audience
can be eased into the intimidation of the house.
7. FACIAL EXPRESSION/BODY LANGUAGE
Their will be a number of expressions used as well as
readable body language that will highlight the characters
motives and emotions.These emotions/motives are:
distressed, evil, thoughtful and casual.
