ABOUT THE MUNICIPAL LEAGUE
The Municipal League of King County is a volunteer-driven, nonpartisan,
nonprofit organization that has been working toward better government in
King County, Washington for 105 years. The League’s mission is to promote
government that is open, effective and accountable, and to improve the
caliber of public officials and the quality of public decisions.
The Municipal League’s Candidate Evaluation ratings attempt to answer a
fundamental question facing voters: How well could a candidate do the job?
AN EVALUATION AND NOT AN ENDORSEMENT
The ratings are unique because they do not consider a candidate’s political
affiliations or standing on specific issues. Instead, the goal is to determine
the candidate’s potential to be effective in office, meaning that multiple
candidates in a race might receive the same rating because the process is an
evaluation and NOT an endorsement. The process is similar to a job
interview – with a diverse group of citizens serving as hiring managers.
We want to give special thanks to the volunteers who contributed
their time, skills and insights. The Municipal League’s efforts to
improve the caliber of public officials and the quality of public
decisions depends solely on our members and volunteers. We
encourage volunteers interested in serving in the future to contact
