2. Introduction-Addressing Drug Shortages in Canada
during COVID-19 Pandemic
The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented challenge in the
healthcare industry,
In Canada, the shortage of drugs is a significant concern for healthcare
professionals and patients.
To address the shortage, the Canadian government is planning to import
medicines from six countries, including the United States, Europe, Australia,
Japan, Switzerland, and New Zealand.
The importation of drugs can improve the availability of medicines in countries
facing shortages.
However, it can also pose potential risks associated with counterfeit drugs,
substandard drugs, and drugs that do not meet regulatory requirements.

5. Conclusion
This study examined the advantages and difficulties of importing medicines
to Canada. Importing medicines to Canada has both advantages and
challenges.
 Benefit: cheaper medicines, improved access to medicines, increased
supply and cost savings for the healthcare system
 Challenges: quality control, regulatory compliance, intellectual property
issues, and disruption to the domestic pharmaceutical industry.
It is suggested that the potential advantages of importing
pharmaceuticals into Canada are substantial, but it is critical to weigh
those advantages against potential drawbacks and dangers by heeding
the advice given above.
