Duty and Responsibilities as Chief Electrician
 Ensure daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment are carried out
 Ensure that the permit to work system is in place and followed
 Participate in the effective management of the Rig Maintenance System (RMS)
and Inventory Control System - ensure all records are maintained on a timely basis
 Carry out periodic maintenance according to the RMS guidelines and coordinate
same with supervisor and other department heads
 Operate, maintain and repair power generation and distribution equipment, i.e.
generators and engine controls, SCR, switchgears, transformers, etc.
 Maintenance and repair general rig equipment such as HVAC system,
refrigeration plants, power and communication systems, lighting, etc.
 Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of drilling
equipment, i.e. Driller's console, DC drilling motors and auxiliaries, Top Drive
System, Draw works, mud pumps, etc.
 Carry out maintenance and repair on Earth moving Machineries, i.e. cranes,
loaders etc.
 Perform and interpret power calculations, power factor, insulation tests, and
positive relay tests as required
 Study and understand electrical schematics and logic diagrams as required
 Gather data from instruments, interpret past and present performance to
understand trends and ensure problems are solved

2.  Maintain an adequate supply of spares in order to fulfill maintenance
requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation - generate requisitions as
required -
 Inform supervisor and other department heads of any technical problems or
limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig
 Implement the outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients,
Regulatory Authorities or rig management
 Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and
complete
 Assist in supplying information for maintenance and repair budget
 Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct
supervisor to Technical Field Support
 Monitoring and Diagnosing the condition of Electrical Installation and
Components. With a Thermal Camera

 Incorporate the THINK planning process into all tasks, whether working alone
or as part of a team
 Participate daily in START Process
 Ensure that subordinate personnel are properly trained to perform START
observations and monitoring
 Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change
in the expected results is observed
 Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to the Rig
Manager
 Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre tour meetings as required
 Demonstrate commitment to the Company's safety policies through leadership
and guidance
 Ensure a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the
rig
