Minnesota Zoo Opens New Bug Exhibit “All About Bugs”
WHO: The Minnesota Zoo, a leader in saving wildlife, will be opening “All
About Bugs,” a brand new exhibit that focuses solely on thousands of live
bugs, creeping and crawling. The exhibit will not only keep visitors
entertained but also teach them about the impact that these bugs have on
all of us. The Minnesota Zoo works to connect people, animals, and the
natural world to save wildlife through cutting-edge exhibits provide
exciting experiences with animals and their habitats introducing guests to
species from around the globe.
WHEN: Sunday, May 1, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
WHERE: 13000 Zoo Blvd Apple Valley, MN 55124 on the Northern Trail just past
the new Conservation Carousel
WHAT: The exhibit will include: colorful North American butterflies and moths, a
working colony of leaf cutter ants, giant millipedes, centipedes, land crabs,
the world’s largest spider, tarantulas, scorpions, a zebra cockroach, and a
butterfly garden with up to 600 free flying butterflies and moths feeding,
resting, and emerging as adult butterflies.
PHOTO AND INTERVIEW OPPS:
Dr. Giebink aka “Bruce The Bug Guy” will be performing an educational
program with LIVE insects, spiders, and millipedes from noon to 2 p.m.
This hands-on and interactive nature program—kept lively with humor,
fun props, and occasional “surprises”—make it enjoyable for people of all
ages.
