Downes Lawrence article begins by mobilizing immigrants to get ready for some harsh
experiences. He explains to immigrants that it has come to a time that has to accept and declare
themselves as a sanctuary. According to Trump unauthorized immigrants are vicious criminals and
have dangerous desirables. This led to the intimidation and arrest of immigrants. Downes argues
that the word sanctuary refers to the immigrant loving communities that facilitate unregistered
immigrant roams freely.
However, the authors focus on states that have gone contradictory to Trump's order on
deportation and detaining undocumented immigrants. The Santa Ana State have distanced itself
from Trumps wishes of detaining immigrants by arguing that here are various Asians and other
immigrants who have worked hard to live in America hence cannot detain. The state has faced
threats of not federal funds but has chosen to protect the undocumented immigrants. Additionally,
the state’s local government has made other efforts of helping out immigrants by providing lawyers
for individuals who are likely to get deported or detained. Downes argues that there other cities
that also have shown to go against Trump's order on immigrants. He concludes by challenging
states that do not show any effort of protecting and providing help to undocumented immigrants.

immigrants in a series of actions that are nationally coordinated. Fieldman explains that Trump
made executive orders that called for increased cooperation between federal immigration
enforcement and police as well as penalties for sanctuary jurisdictions limiting the cooperation.

Jonathan shows that the major barrier to Trump's objective of deporting immigrants is the
sanctuary cities. He alleges that Trump and the Remembrance organization have affirmed that
sanctuary cities could be the major hindrance in the deportation of immigrants.

The three articles provide significant information on how to resist deportation of
immigrants. Downes article shows that sanctuary cities are effective enough in protecting
undocumented immigrants. Fieldman's article mobilizes the American communities to make use
of sanctuary cities to resists immigrant deportation and detaining while Jonathan's article shows
those sanctuary cities are the only major way to defeat Trump's objectives of deporting immigrants.
All the articles are well explained and provide different bits of information that sum up to show
that the sanctuary cities are an effective counter measure to trumps immigration policies.
