3. Evaluation of Rapid HIV Self Testing Among Men who have Sex with Men
(MSM) in High Prevalence Cities. “eSTAMP” (Research)
• To evaluate the public health benefit of distributing rapid HIV tests for “at-
home” use by MSM recruited via the internet.
• Tests: OraQuick, Sure Check & Dried Blood Spot Card.
• Four part study:
• 1) Focus Groups, In-depth Int. – assess contractor developed materials;
• 2) Observed testing – proficiency;
• 3) Field Performance – N=850;
• 4) RCT (3200 Neg /Unk – 12 months) & Distribution (150 Pos – 3
months)
MSM Testing Initiative. “MTI” (Program)
• To identify at least 3,000 unrecognized HIV infections among MSM and link
them into medical care < 90 days
• Five recruitment strategies, 1 used Home Access testing: Itestathome.org
• April 2014 through February 2015
• Recruitment via palm cards distributed at venues and via FaceBook
• Home Access (DBS) test kit shipped to eligible men (N=500; Prevalence 2%)
