Childhood & The way he is here:
 Ratan squirmed when their British
driver dropped him off at the all-
boys Campion School in the family
Rolls Royce.
 He was thirteen when he was
suddenly picked up by childless and
widowed Lady Navajbai Tata.
 He received a Bachelor of Science
degree in architecture from Cornell
University in 1962.
 Honored with Padma Bhushan, one
of the highest civilian awards in
2000.
Childhood & The way he is here:
 From his grandmother, the young Ratan imbibed the
importance of dignity, keeping promises and being
dependable. Tata has never married. In Bombay, he
would date on and off; more off than on, and once
even got engaged, but broke it off before the cards
could be printed.
 He joined the Tata Group in 1971.
 Appointed Chairman of Tata Industries in 1981.
 In 1991, Ratan Tata took over the Chairmanship from
JRD Tata.
 Tata Motors came up with Tata Indica, the first truly
Indian car.
 He was also conferred an honorary doctorate in
business administration by Ohio State University.

  • 6. JEHANGIR R. D. TATA: THE AVIATOR  The son of Mr. Ratanji Dadabhai.  Born in France in 1904.  1925 he joined Tata.  Played a critical role in increasing India's scientific, medical and artistic quotient.  He died in Geneva on November 29, 1993.
  • 7. RATAN NAVAL TATA: 21ST CENTURY AND BEYOND  Born Bombay, December 28, 1937.  Son of Naval Hormusji Tata.  Made the Tata Group a global player.  In January 10, 2005 issue of Forbes Asia, named Ratan Tata as Asia's Businessman of the Year.

Childhood & The way he is here:  Ratan squirmed when their British driver dropped him off at the all- boys Campion School in the family Rolls Royce.  He was thirteen when he was suddenly picked up by childless and widowed Lady Navajbai Tata.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture from Cornell University in 1962.  Honored with Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian awards in 2000.

In Bombay, he would date on and off; more off than on, and once even got engaged, but broke it off before the cards could be printed.  He joined the Tata Group in 1971.  Appointed Chairman of Tata Industries in 1981.  In 1991, Ratan Tata took over the Chairmanship from JRD Tata.  Tata Motors came up with Tata Indica, the first truly Indian car.  He was also conferred an honorary doctorate in business administration by Ohio State University.
