1. Conversions: percentages to decimals

2. ‘Percent’ means ‘out of a hundred.’
So 55% means 55 out of a hundred.
To convert this to a decimal you need to divide 55 by 100.
You can do this by dividing 55 by 10:
55 divided by 10 = 5.5 and then divide by 10 again (because 10 x
10 = 100)
5.5 divided by 10 = 0.55
You can see that 55% or 55.0 % has become 0.55 as a decimal. So
you might just want to ‘move’ the decimal point two places to
the left - but don’t tell any mathematicians I said that!!!
