2. FOOD COLOURS
Food coloring is dye or substance that reinforces
color when it is added to food or drink.
Food coloring is divided into 3 groups:
Natural dyes - from naturally raw materials (plants etc.).
Most natural dyes are harmless to health.
Chemical dyes - made chemically, but are identical to
natural dyes.
Synthetic dyes - made from chemical synthesis. They have
durability and low cost.
4. 1. Pour water in 2 empty glasses
and add different food colors. We
did green and yellow, then blue
and red.
2. Fold the paper towel in the
narrow strips.
3. Stick one end of paper strips
into one glass of colored waters,
and the other end into empty
middle glass .
4. Repeat for other side, so that
each glass has paper towel that
ends up in middle glass.
It's best to start experiment in the
morning because it takes a few
hours to move the water from full
glass to empty.
PREPARATION:
5. • Water is transferred
from glasses with water
to empty, until the
water level in glasses
is the same.
• The paper towel keeps
transferring the water
until the water levels
are equal in both
glasses.
• It also turns into a cool
coloring mixing lesson.
RESULT:
6. • The each molecule of water is made
of 2chydrogen atoms (H) and 1
oxygen atom (O). A drop of water has
a many molecules that are held
together by molecular bonds. These
strong bonds allow water molecules
to stick together and move down
paper strip into empty glass.
• The water molecules penetrate the
small grooves between the paper
towel and spread through the whole
paper towel.
• A similar process occurs in plants
when the fluid travels from root to
rest of plant.
