1. This is how I met Greg and Evelyn Keyes, a day I will always
look back on with pleasure and wish they lived closer.
I am an Aqua- fitness instructor in South Africa and I wanted to link up with other likeminded people
around the world, so I joined Facebook. I Googled to try link up until one bright, sunny, Sunday
morning, an amazing couple, that I can now call, special friends, found me. We chatted through
Facebook and they could tell I was so enthusiastic about Aqua Fitness, wanting to learn more. They
helped me link up to the world and oh, so much more knowledge they were so willing to share with
me.
At the time Greg and Evelyn were organising a world tour on aquatics and offered to come to me in
East London, South Africa. Together with their help, we put together a Health & Wellness
Conference which took place in May 2014. Greg and Evelyn presented for 2 days covering a wide
range of information including Aging Population in the wellness and care domains; exercise is
medicine; changing trends in Exercise science and programs; postural deformities that lead to
chronic injury in school sport; aqua boot camp; methodologies for both land and aqua
presentations; Land based exercise with special population groups; nutrition and awareness in
lifestyles and goal settings. Greg and Evelyn were fantastic presenters, keeping us engrossed at all
times, in all the knowledge they shared. Everybody said, they would love to have them back again,
any time.
It didn’t stop there, as Greg shared with me how he goes about a business online course that he is
jointly involved with in Australia. This was very interesting and I know it could help many who could
not afford to travel or get to an institution for further education. This is a fantastic idea and would
be an instrumental tool in helping the world help themselves.
I took Greg and Evelyn to Mdantsane Township, where we spent the day joining in a church service,
braaiing at an open air restaurant, and going to a shabine( like a pub). I was amazed how they
integrated with everyone and they said it was their best day here in South Africa. They shared a lot
of information on different cultures around the world with us all.
I took them to Inkwenkwesi Game Park, where their knowledge on wildlife that they shared, was
amazing. It was pure joy watching their appreciation for wildlife and I know they took hundreds of
photos, hehehe!!!
2. Lastly, I must add, the hours they spent sharing their knowledge on Aqua Fitness with both me,
other aqua fitness instructors, and more than 100 of my clients, was amazing. This opened up our
knowledge to create many different aqua events, ranging from aqua disco, glow in the dark aqua
disco to foam aqua parties. It made us, here in South Africa, realise there is so much you can do in
the water while exercising and have loads of fun doing it. If I could afford it, I would bring them back
to South Africa tomorrow and would plan they go to other areas of South Africa. Greg and Evelyn are
a one in a million couple who share their knowledge with absolutely everyone and everyone holds
them with a very high regard, including me. Two years down the line we still chat fondly about Greg
and Evelyn. A memory that will never die.
