To
Whom
It
May
Concern:
I
am
writing
this
letter
of
recommendation
to
endorse
Grant
Maddox.
Grant
worked
as
an
intern
with
Parabola
during
the
spring
semester
of
2016
during
his
senior
year
at
the
College
of
Charleston.
Parabola
is
a
B2B
financial
wellness
technology
company,
which
we
like
to
refer
to
as
the
Fitbit
of
Finance.
Our
mobile
platform
links
user's/employee's
accounts
to
track
all
income,
expenses,
and
net
worth
in
one
smartphone
app
and
tracking
those
accounts
against
40
different
personal
finance
goals
that
apply
to
everyone
like
paying
off
a
car
loan,
student
loan,
credit
card,
buying
a
house,
or
setting
up
a
529
college
savings
plan
for
a
child.
We
then
award
them
a
badge
as
incremental
reinforcement
each
time
they
attain
a
financial
goal
–
like
a
personal
trainer
encouraging
you
along
the
way
with
your
finances.
I
met
Grant
during
our
soft
launch
of
the
mobile
app.
During
the
spring
semester,
I
spoke
at
finance
classes
from
freshmen
to
seniors
and
graduate
students
to
offer
the
app
to
students
for
free
as
we
verified
our
thesis,
prioritized
features
and
enhancements
for
future
app
updates,
and
used
these
chats
with
students
as
focus
groups.
Grant
was
in
the
first
such
discussion,
which
was
a
finance
club
meeting.
He
boldly
approached
me
after
the
discussion
and
asked
me
for
an
internship.
We
quickly
worked
with
Grant
to
develop
our
internship
program
as
a
result
of
his
inquiry.
During
his
time
with
us,
Grant’s
consistently
positive
attitude
was
infectious.
Grant
has
an
uncanny
ability
to
be
witty
and
funny
in
discussions
but
still
get
his
point
across
and
“close
the
sale”,
which
during
his
internship
was
helping
us
increase
app
downloads
with
students
to
verify
our
thesis
of
how
we
were
attempting
to
make
a
dent
in
the
country’s
retirement
problem.
His
guerrilla
marketing
tenacity
helped
grow
our
user
base
nearly
240%
during
the
course
of
the
semester.
From
110
downloads
to
nearly
400.
It
was
Grant’s
suggestion
to
turn
these
chats
with
students
from
small
advertisements
about
the
platform
into
focus
groups
to
prioritize
feedback.
This
suggestion
was
invaluable
and
completely
changed
the
nature
and
result.
Because
of
his
suggestion,
we
not
only
perfected
our
onboarding
process
for
our
B2B
paid
traction,
but
we
also
were
able
to
have
important
dialogue
with
users
about
what
enhancements
were
important
to
them,
why
they
were
important,
and
prioritize
our
upcoming
features.
Grant
also
wrote
blog
content
for
our
website
regularly
that
was
well
received
among
our
social
media
followers.
He
participated
in
a
feedback
session
we
had
with
a
local
financial
advisor
who
focuses
strictly
on
401(k)
administration
as
we
2.
sought
to
pinpoint
the
needs
and
challenges
of
advisors
in
the
construction
of
the
framework
architecture
for
our
web
portal
for
advisors
and
employers.
Grant
learned
applications
that
aid
in
software
development
(Slack,
Apple
Test
Flight,
etc.).
He
helped
us
examine
our
capital
expenditures
and
needs
as
we
seek
to
raise
capital
in
the
coming
months.
Finally,
Grant
made
two
crucial
introductions
to
Charleston
influencers
and
CEOs,
one
being
in
our
similar
fintech
mobile
space
and
the
other
running
a
local
cyber
security
firm.
The
former
has
helped
to
shape
competitive
differentiators
and
the
latter
has
led
to
critical
advice
forward
on
the
B2B
channel
and
potential
advisory
board
and
funding
sources.
Grant’s
ability,
maturity,
and
comfort
in
his
own
skin
help
him
to
exude
a
confidence
that
is
well
beyond
his
years.
Grant
isn’t
afraid
to
give
his
best,
fail,
listen
intently
to
critical
advice,
try
again,
and
hit
a
homerun
each
time.
This
skill
is
an
absolutely
necessity
in
a
startup
environment,
and
Grant’s
ability
to
embrace
the
process
and
iterate
quickly
are
phenomenal.
I
highly
recommend
him
for
any
position
in
consideration,
and
I
feel
he
will
be
a
tremendous
asset
to
you
organization.
I
am
happy
to
chat
further
if
necessary.
My
contact
information
is
contained
below.
Thank
you
for
your
time
and
consideration
of
Grant
for
a
position
within
your
organization.
Sincerely,
Joshua
