2. Our genre is a kidnap drama. These tend to involve dark rooms,
old creepy men,
young girls and images of being tied up. However,
we
have decided to do
a different approach as the character
in our film does not
know that she is living an
abnormal life.
We have been influenced by the films 'Room' and
'Everything Everything' which also include ideas of experiencing the
real world for the first time.
Our film ideas:
Girl had been abducted by mentally ill woman when she was a baby.
The woman couldn’t have children and wanted a child. She keeps the girl inside her whole life and has built up an idea of a secluded life where the girl believes her and her mum are the
only two people alive.
The mum leaves each day which causes the girl to become curious.
When the girl goes outside she is in awe of the world around her, however she is extremely vulnerable due to her never seeing things before such as men and animals.
She slowly discovers the real world, and uncovers the truth about her life.

Montage editing
Pace change at beginning, middle and end.
Key Events:
Ivy and 'Mum' happy in the house; playing, etc.; this is all fairly slow paced, gentle music and seems like
a normal setting.
Hints at abnormality when 'mum' looks at watch and locks girl in room before leaving the house.
Questions asked to 'mum' as voiceovers ; 'where do you go?' 'what is it like?', etc.
Sees world through gap.
Pace picks up; lots of short clips and more intense music; when Ivy sees the world for the first time
through a gap she makes in the wall.
6. Poster Ideas
No 1.
Close up of half the face.
Reflection of door in eye.
Looking at posters
Colours of blue used to keep up brand identity.
We will show the genre by using high key lighting contrasted with low key
Lighting. This will depict the characters life on the inside of the house, contrasted
to her life on the outside.
We will include objects and people that look normal as dramas use realism.
The expressions on the characters faces on the poster will be serious; straight
faced, eyes looking off, etc.
No 2.
• Background is the outside world; trees,
blue sky.
• Black slightly transparent key whole or
black area taking up majority of the space.
• Protagonist coming out of the key hole
looking around.
