Abbreviations
Shortening word s such as it is to its and I am to im

Writing numbers
Writing out numbers in words for example 1234 would
become one thousand two hundred and thirty four

Expanding acronyms
Expanding acronyms such as BBC would become British
broadcast corporation

Punctuation
Use punctuation such as full stops so the reader knows
when to pause

Formal and colloquial language
Colloquial language would be used on a station such a
metro to appeal to the audience when formal language
would be use more on stations such as radio 4

Jargon
If you were talking about something like a new iPhone of pc
you would leave out the jargon to make it simple to
understand

Phonetic spelling of difficult words
Spelling words that aren’t spelt how they sound for example
xylophone would be spelt zi-lo-fone
