Marie Cassidy was born in 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland. She had a childhood dream of becoming a ballet dancer. In 1998, she became Ireland's first female state pathologist and worked in the forensic department at Glasgow University. She was an inspiration as the first woman to work as a pathologist and for using her skills to help identify victims of war crimes in Bosnia.
