4. It was very unhappy, because nobody wanted to
play with it.
It sighed:
„I´d like to be as slim as my brother the
rectangle
5. or as round as my cousin the
circle
That would be funny.
6. There is nothing special about me.
All my sides are equal, how boring.
I´d rather like to have such marvellous
vertaxes like my sister the
triangle
7. The little square got tired, lay down and fell asleep. It
dreamed a wonderful dream. In its dream a wizard
occured and said: “ Why are you so sad, little square?
Can I help you.“ „Oh please, dont let me be a boring
square any longer, please turn me into a funny
triangle.“„Why do you want to be a triangle, I change
you in a headscarf, then I can make you a present for
my dear friend the witch. Maybe that will make her
follow my invitation to visit the old mill at the lake. I
want to seek there for a hidden treasure. Unfortunately
she doesn´t want to join me there, because it`s always
so windy
In a flash he transformed he litte square into a
headscarf
8. Then the wizard took a pen and ink
and wrote to his friend the witch a
letter
9. He wrote:“ Dear friend,
when we´ll have full moon next time I´ll wait for you
at the old mill.“
The witch said:“ What should that? When we met
the last time I caught a terrible cold.“ And she got a
handkerchief
10. After she had cleaned her long nose,
she thought about what to wear for the excursion
and examined her
wardrobe
23. „My goodness,“ said the amazed wizard.
„Look at these lines and folds.
That must be treasure,
how mysterious, how interesting.“
24. Suddenly the litte square woke up.
„Am I awake or am I still dreaming.
Might it be, that all those things can be folded out of a little
square like I am.
Then all of that is inside me:
the book – the cup – the chest – the mill – the boat –
the sailing boat – the house – the fish – the window – the
mirror –
the tippet – the wardrobe – the handkerchief – the letter .
the headscarf
and the magic square.
Now I´m sure that I will find someone to play with me
25. And full of pleasure and excitement the litte
square turned into a
bright red
