Guidelines To Writing A Quote Analysis
Quote #1
It is not the length of life, but the depth of it. Interpretation: It's not about how long you live; it's about how you spend your life. What it means to me:
I picked this quote because it really spoke to me. I'm always wishing the days away when I should be making every minute count.
Quote #2
You hold the future in your hands. It is impacted by each choice you make. What future are you setting up for yourself right now?
Interpretation: You are in control of your own future. The choices you make are what shapes that future. What it means to me: I chose this quote
because I think it really applies to my life right now. The choices I make in high school can affect what college I get into or even my future career.
Every choice I make will shape my future in some way....show more content...
Interpretation: The choices a person makes determine their present and future. What it means to me: This quote is very similar to quote #2, my
future depends on the choices I make every day. This applies to cross country. The outcome of my season is determined by the amount of effort and
time I put into it. Video: "The Butterfly Effect" is really inspiring to me, it makes me think about what I can do to make a difference in the world.
This theory plays a role in my everyday life, even the smallest things. When I encourage and support my cross country teammates, they do the same
for others which creates a supportive team. I hope that when I'm older, I can make a bigger effect on the world and really make a difference in
someone's life.
1 thing Mrs. Carter should know about me: I am involved with cross country and track; I really enjoy

Ralph Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
"The thing is – fear can't hurt you anymore than a dream."(Golding, 116). Ralph's point of view on fear is declared within the quote. Ralph is the
protagonist derived from William Golding's esteemed bestseller, Lord of the Flies. In the renowned novel written by Golding, young boys in a plane
have crashed and descended upon an uninhabited island with more than sufficient vegetation. On the first chapter of the fictional writing, many of the
boys are very enthusiastic and exhilarated about being on an island without any parental supervision. At first, order and tranquility was established by
the children and there was more civilization on the island compared to savagery. However, as the novel advanced, the readers could identify the kids

Writing A Quote Analysis
The quote that I most closely identify with is, "A writer is motivated by need–the need to express himself/herself. To put it another way, writers write
because they simply have to write. It is their way of dealing with their emotions, with their understandings, with their lives. When poet Alden Nowlan
was once asked, "Why do you write?" he answered, "What else would I do?" For me, writing is a never–ending journey of self–discovery. I could no
more give up writing than give up breathing. It is as much a part of me as my skin." –Glen Sorestad. I identify most with this quote because as a writer,
you feel the need to express yourself/thoughts on paper to create an incredible novel, poem, short story, etc. You can let all your emotions flow

Example Of A Quote Analysis
The quote "I beg the next generation not to do what people have done for centuries – hate others because of their skin, shape of their eyes, or religious
preference. I know what hatred does. I barely escaped what hatred does." by Robert Clary relates to the Holocaust.First, It's about how if many people
do what has happened in the past you will just repeat the Holocaust or the past. Next, the quote talks about how people can be racist. The Holocaust
was based around racism because Hitler did not want Jews, Gypsies, etc. Then, the quote says he knows how hatred feels and this is saying he
survived and it's not a good feeling to feel hate.Last, the quote is about how it's hard to fight hate. Also, how it's painful and harsh to get through it

The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis
In the classic, The Great Gatsby, the actual author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, quickly begins with a sentence that raises many questions and inferences. Before
Nick ends his talk about Gatsby, he finishes with "No–Gatsby turned out all right at the end; it is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the
wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short–winded elations of men" (2). So, from what Nick says in
the beginning, I infer that Gatsby will be fine at the end, and content with himself. However, it seems as if man restricted Gatsby from pursuing his
dreams. Using the word 'preyed' is an interesting word choice. Usually when I read or hear the word 'preyed' I think of animals; so, possibly the
people that preyed him were like animals and could not be controlled, they might be wild and vicious toward Gatsby. Dust is typically dirty, so the
people that do restrict Gatsby will probably tear him down in a foul and dirty way that is inhumane. I think throughout...show more content...
When Tom's woman in New York called, Jordan added, "'She might have the decency not to telephone him at dinner time. Don't you think?"' (15).
It's a pretentious and silly "rule", how would the woman know that he was having dinner? It also makes me wonder who the woman is, and it's
obvious that Daisy knows, is she okay with her husband seeing another woman? Furthermore, it shows Jordan Baker is entitled and thinks that
everyone knows when she is eating and does not want to be interrupted. Additionally, when Daisy told Nick she heard he was engaged, he corrected
her by telling her that was not the truth, she then added, "We heard it from three people, so it must be true" (19). I don't think Daisy is the only one
who would say that in her class, it shows another example of her naГЇveness and I believe this attitude and way of thinking will continue throughout
the novel and possibly cause some

Winston Smith Quote Analysis
I think is quote shows how one can be betrayed by the one they love if put in a negative situation like what happened to Julia and Winston. The reason
this quote is important is because it explaining that the concepts of love and being loyal to the one you love has no meaning when one is tortured. Also
that at the end they will wear you out when they are in intolerable pain and they want it to be lessen and stop. Fursome this explanation, we can explain
that when Winston Smith and Julia promised to each other that they wouldn't give their love away. But we saw the changed in both when they were
captured and tortured with their worst fears. Also their changeses when both renounce their love for each other. To clarify this, torture or any fear

Story Of An Hour Quote Analysis
Bianca and I have the same reaction, confused, yet we have assumptions to make about the death of Mrs. Mallard in "The Story of an Hour" by
Kate Chopin. My reaction, personally, was that she felt such a great passion for her freedom once her husband died that she felt joy again, and that
she was ready to get on with her own life. As Chopin says, "But she saw from that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would
belong to her absolutely." (116). The personal reaction I happened to get from that quote is that she thought that she had years to do what she wanted
now that she wasn't being held back and controlled by anyone. I feel as though she felt that her husband dying was a blessing in disguise to her. She
felt like love couldn't

To Kill A Mockingbird Quote Analysis
Who would destroy something that contained a heart filled only with good? The answer to that can be found in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by
Harper Lee in an unjust time of unequal opportunity. The story follows the retelling of an 8–year–old girl named Jean Louis and those around her
moral growth. She lives in Maycomb Alabama during the Great Depression. She has many chapters of growth including changing from afraid of a
person to wanting to meet them, seeing people put on masks in order to avoid judgment, and watching an innocent man go to jail. Scout learns that to
Kill a mockingbird is a sin for they have done no wrong, that people make that most meaningful mockingbirds, and the true significance of them
because of the moral growth they bring about in people.
It is seen as an opinion that the protagonists of the story share that to do harm to something that means you none such as a mockingbird is wrong.
Atticus, Scout's dad, tells the kids of the sin after arming them with an air rifle capable of killing birds. "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make
music for us to enjoy...but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to Kill a mockingbird (90). This quote from Miss Maudie supports Atticus's
thought that to kill something so good is wrong. This powerful concept of mockingbirds is also...show more content...

Inspiring Quotes Analysis
Inspiring quotes are great because it causes us to see the world in a different and new perspective. Quotes inspire us by giving us hope and
increases our confidence. It allows us to see the light at the end of the tunnel despite everything we may be going through. Life is based on quotes
and we have the choice to change our lives for the better. One specific quote I find really inspiring is "Great minds discuss ideas, average minds
discuss events and small minds discuss people". Personally, the way I'm interpreting this quote is that people with great knowledge tries to make a
difference in the world by discussing important issues. People with average knowledge make an effort to let people know their opinions on little events.

The Crucible Quote Analysis
In The Crucible, there were many important quotes that were said. Author Miller had a lot of highlighted scenes that made the play interesting. The
play, in my eyes, is based on three important quotes. In the play, I believe it's mainly based around the thought of witchcraft. Firstly, many died
because they were accused of committing witchery, or have falsely been seen with "the Devil." For example, on page 1134, Putnam states "Don't you
understand it, sir. There is a murdering witch among us, bound to keep herself in the dark. What they will, you cannot blink it more." Putnam believes
that because her seven babies were killed while being watched that someone was making plans with the devil. Even though there was no proof Putnam

Meaning Of A Quote Analysis
The quote is saying that with food we are not just buying and consuming the food there is more to the meaning. In the reading it states that, " people
use food to speak with each other, to establish rules of behavior...and to reveal what you are." At the table one could order something around the price
range as the other person to communicate that you are trying to be kind and conscious of the other person's money. Another example from the reading
to discuss the meaning of the quote is, "Cuisines also prescribe the way food is to be eaten–a set of manners, codes of etiquette." The way you eat
shows the behavior of food. If the person you are dining with is being polite and eating with their mouth closed, speaking after the food is chewed and

The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis Essay
The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a novel about the so–called glamourful life of rich 1920 New Yorkers, although it symbolizes the entire
United States. The book is narrated by a middle class man by the name of Nick Carraway. The events of the book are told as previous events that are
recalled by Nick, who is trying to tell the tale of "The Great Gatsby". Nick who lives next door to Gatsby is from the midwest and believes he is very
moral, as opposed to the rich citizens of New York who he believes are the opposite. By lounging around with people from both the East and West egg,
Nick begins to learn more about these people and the truth about their lifestyles. Fitzgerald explains the theme of how money makes the morality of the
social elite fade, through the use of quotes and symbolism....show more content...
This quote shows how morality in everyone should be. The quote states that the rich or privileged should not be so advantageous of their powers as
others do not have the wealth the rich do. This quote indicates that the addressed person must first, have some wealth, and second, indicates that people
with 'advantages' (or the wealthy) tend to criticize the less fortunate. This fits in with the theme of how money or wealth creates a lack of morals, which
then causes them to start criticizing

The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis
Social–historical background
The novel the great Gatsby is a story about the poor pursue power eventually fail. For Gatsby's tragic ending, the society has unshirkable
responsibility. In that society, class distinction is clear, so Gatsby's death is is a predestined tragedy in that society. In fact, even though Gatsby had a
luxury life by by squandering his illegally wealth, the deep–rooted social hierarchy still rejected him. In the chapter 8 of the book, one sentence shown
this situation. "The identity of Jay Gatsby had broken up like glass against Tom's hard malice, and the long secret extravaganza was played
out."(Fitzgerald,2008,P.190). Obviously, as the book says, Tom is the represent of the privileged class, he is rude and imperious.

He is a dreamy man. If he low birth prompted him to "dream", his own character speed up his sad ending. From this novel, we can find such a man:
integrity, kindness, he is considerate. In general, the character in this dog–eat–dog society, he struggle with others, itself is a tragedy. Gatsby didn't see
the evil side of Daisy, he thinks Daisy is well brought up and well cultured, noble and generous woman. He took her as his dream of a part of life, he
continued to pursue her. In fact, he mistakenly took Daisy as his ideal woman, which has increased the tragic color of the story. If Gatsby can treat
Daisy objectively and rationally, he won't get such a tragic end. But he was not seriously thought about his dream, he just pursue his dream depend on
his intuition. Another important character is Gatsby's self–confidence. He is a very unconfident man but he always show his best side. We can found in
many descriptions of the novel. Apparently Gatsby's personality is not what people can see from the outside. The impression that Gatsby left to others
is not himself, is his material affluence. In this story, Gatsby was shaped as a great man. Seen from the outside, he is handsome, confident and rich. In
fact, he is a rich man, but he had no confidence and self–respect. He want to get people's respect and love in any way rather than his personality. So
Gatsby always showing off his wealth rather than his own personality

Assignment 1: Quote Analysis
The way the world is surrounded by technology, not being able to understand technology is difficult but not "death in life". Today, almost anything
on paper is easily accessed on a laptop or smartphone. However, if you're technologically illiterate, you still have access to everything on paper, you
just may have to look harder for it. In the text, Carole says "Now I can read, I can read books, anything. I can write. In English and French." When I
read that quote, I think of Carole's troubles when learning to read on paper, now she has to learn all over again on a laptop. Personally, I find it very
hard to read off of a smartboard or laptop and I can only think of the struggles coming Carole's way in the 21st century. Some challenges could be,

The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis
Many stories and novels usually interest us because they show you how life can really be and the more you read into it, the more you feel you can
relate to it. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby" many of the characters have their flaws which reels in the reader even more. This novel
shows how some characters have gone through some things to be where they are now. The Great Gatsby relates to the American Dream in certain things
such as luxury, ambition, love affairs and more.
Author Fareed Zakaria opines regarding the so called American Dream, noting how his perspective completely changed after immigrating from India to
be able to attend college. Author Zakaria realized that it wasn't much like India. He realized more contentment,...show more content...
This usually calls a girls attention more than a guy because of the way they see it and how they'd put themselves in that situation and how they would
weigh out things differently than the characters in the novel. Author Tim Stanley used a quote that can well relate to the Great Gatsby and the
American Dream. The quote says, "You have no right to question him. A good wife knows her place"(Stanley). Now this quote can be connected to
the Great Gatsby because of the way Jordan Baker lets Nick Carraway know about Tom Buchanan's secret mistress. Daisy pretty much knew about
Tom Buchanan's affair but never payed much attention because she was basically having an affair as well. Daisy was having a secret relationship with
the father of her daughter, Jay Gatsby. Stanley then used another quote who then related to not Daisy, but to Myrtle Wilson. This quotes seems like it's
trying to represent a sad married woman who no longer lives in happiness and how She lay beside her husband at night –– she was afraid to ask herself
the silent question.. "Is that all?"(Stanley). This takes us back to where Myrtle broke down about how George wasn't "fit to lick her shoe"(page 29,
The Great Gatsby). Myrtle explained how George had even borrowed somebody's best suit for their wedding day. Now this would definitely catch a
girl's attention and possibly start an argument because not all women would like to live unhappy but then again, why marry him if you don't know him
well enough or just want him for

Writing A Quote Analysis
The letter grade I have given myself is a B. I believe I am a good writer, but when it comes to small details, there is improvement needed.
When writing any essay, I must be organized. When it writing an essay reviewing a book, flash cards are must. I have my quote on one side and then
my explanation and transition on the other. I do this for every quote so when it is time for my rough draft to be put together, most of the work is
finished; I just have to put them together as numbered. In my senior year of high school, I did an essay on Robert McMcrumb's The Story of English. I
had so many quotes that I had to pick certain ones that were the most important. In my health class, we were asked to write a story about our middle
school years.

Hamlet Quote Analysis
"To be or not to be–" still one of the greatest quotes today. Before even reading, or knowing of Shakespeare's Hamlet, odds are you had heard the
phrase before. But, what does this quote mean? What this quote showcases is a major theme to come up again and again throughout this play, seen
with Hamlet through his most inner thoughts. These themes occur again with Claudius and Laertes nearing the end of the play. What these characters,
and that quote, show is that preoccupation with death is a major theme in the play Hamlet, as it is seen constantly within Hamlet, Claudius, and Laertes,
as well as nearly in every other single character.
One of the saddest truths in life is that it will always end in death. We see death showcased in many ways...show more content...
Secondly, looking at Claudius and Laertes it becomes apparent how truly consumed they become with death– specifically, Hamlet's death. Throughout
the seventh scene of Act IV, we see Claudius and Laertes together, and Claudius brings up his plan to ultimately kill Hamlet. Not only do the two
plan exactly how this murder will go down, and how they will manage to get away with it, but Claudius follows with, "therefore this project / Should
have a back or second that might hold / If this should blast in proof." (IV, vii, 152–154) The two have their plan, however they also felt the need to
create a backup plan just in case their original plot does not follow through. With this, we are able to see how truly determined they are to ensure
Hamlet dies. This thought of Claudius' is continued with, "A sword unbated, and in a pass of practice / Requite him for your father." (IV, vii,
138–139), and with that, allowing Laertes to avenge his father's death. This shows how Claudius thinks, as he suggests a fight fire with fire type of
approach to this. His resolution to death is more death, and with that Laertes agrees. The two of them become so absorbed with killing Hamlet, that this
is the only thing the two continues to do until the end of the

Mark Twain: Quote Analysis
"All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure" (Twain). This quote is from Mark Twain. He is a very famous author
who has written such classics as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Mark Twain's real name is Samuel
Clemens, and was known to have experienced different many things in his lifetime. He has worked as a miner, printer, river pilot, and more
(www.cmgww.com). This tells us that he must have known many things, and possibly how he came up with this quote. To me, this quote means that as
long as you do what you want and follow your dreams, they will come true. I can somewhat relate to this because I am both cautious and careful at
some things I do, and lazy and uncaring about others. So far, I have gotten some sort of success from how I behave, but sometimes it doesn't work out
and I regret it. This most likely relates to Mark Twain himself because of what he has done in his life, and the fact that this is his quote....show more

I try not to act out for the fear that I might embarrass myself because I don't handle it well. This been successful in the aspect of not embarrassing
myself, but not so much in talking to others because it has given me more of an edge about it. Being lazy and uncaring has definitely not helped me
because it sometimes prevents me from telling being things that are somewhat important. These things sometimes include school things such as grades,
and I sometimes don't tell my parents because I think I will get in trouble, but they find out anyway and I end up getting in more trouble because I
didn't tell

Guidelines To Writing A Quote Analysis

  • 1. Guidelines To Writing A Quote Analysis Quote #1 It is not the length of life, but the depth of it. Interpretation: It's not about how long you live; it's about how you spend your life. What it means to me: I picked this quote because it really spoke to me. I'm always wishing the days away when I should be making every minute count. Quote #2 You hold the future in your hands. It is impacted by each choice you make. What future are you setting up for yourself right now? Interpretation: You are in control of your own future. The choices you make are what shapes that future. What it means to me: I chose this quote because I think it really applies to my life right now. The choices I make in high school can affect what college I get into or even my future career. Every choice I make will shape my future in some way....show more content... Interpretation: The choices a person makes determine their present and future. What it means to me: This quote is very similar to quote #2, my future depends on the choices I make every day. This applies to cross country. The outcome of my season is determined by the amount of effort and time I put into it. Video: "The Butterfly Effect" is really inspiring to me, it makes me think about what I can do to make a difference in the world. This theory plays a role in my everyday life, even the smallest things. When I encourage and support my cross country teammates, they do the same for others which creates a supportive team. I hope that when I'm older, I can make a bigger effect on the world and really make a difference in someone's life. 1 thing Mrs. Carter should know about me: I am involved with cross country and track; I really enjoy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Ralph Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis "The thing is – fear can't hurt you anymore than a dream."(Golding, 116). Ralph's point of view on fear is declared within the quote. Ralph is the protagonist derived from William Golding's esteemed bestseller, Lord of the Flies. In the renowned novel written by Golding, young boys in a plane have crashed and descended upon an uninhabited island with more than sufficient vegetation. On the first chapter of the fictional writing, many of the boys are very enthusiastic and exhilarated about being on an island without any parental supervision. At first, order and tranquility was established by the children and there was more civilization on the island compared to savagery. However, as the novel advanced, the readers could identify the kids were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Writing A Quote Analysis The quote that I most closely identify with is, "A writer is motivated by need–the need to express himself/herself. To put it another way, writers write because they simply have to write. It is their way of dealing with their emotions, with their understandings, with their lives. When poet Alden Nowlan was once asked, "Why do you write?" he answered, "What else would I do?" For me, writing is a never–ending journey of self–discovery. I could no more give up writing than give up breathing. It is as much a part of me as my skin." –Glen Sorestad. I identify most with this quote because as a writer, you feel the need to express yourself/thoughts on paper to create an incredible novel, poem, short story, etc. You can let all your emotions flow Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Example Of A Quote Analysis The quote "I beg the next generation not to do what people have done for centuries – hate others because of their skin, shape of their eyes, or religious preference. I know what hatred does. I barely escaped what hatred does." by Robert Clary relates to the Holocaust.First, It's about how if many people do what has happened in the past you will just repeat the Holocaust or the past. Next, the quote talks about how people can be racist. The Holocaust was based around racism because Hitler did not want Jews, Gypsies, etc. Then, the quote says he knows how hatred feels and this is saying he survived and it's not a good feeling to feel hate.Last, the quote is about how it's hard to fight hate. Also, how it's painful and harsh to get through it Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis In the classic, The Great Gatsby, the actual author, F. Scott Fitzgerald, quickly begins with a sentence that raises many questions and inferences. Before Nick ends his talk about Gatsby, he finishes with "No–Gatsby turned out all right at the end; it is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short–winded elations of men" (2). So, from what Nick says in the beginning, I infer that Gatsby will be fine at the end, and content with himself. However, it seems as if man restricted Gatsby from pursuing his dreams. Using the word 'preyed' is an interesting word choice. Usually when I read or hear the word 'preyed' I think of animals; so, possibly the people that preyed him were like animals and could not be controlled, they might be wild and vicious toward Gatsby. Dust is typically dirty, so the people that do restrict Gatsby will probably tear him down in a foul and dirty way that is inhumane. I think throughout...show more content... When Tom's woman in New York called, Jordan added, "'She might have the decency not to telephone him at dinner time. Don't you think?"' (15). It's a pretentious and silly "rule", how would the woman know that he was having dinner? It also makes me wonder who the woman is, and it's obvious that Daisy knows, is she okay with her husband seeing another woman? Furthermore, it shows Jordan Baker is entitled and thinks that everyone knows when she is eating and does not want to be interrupted. Additionally, when Daisy told Nick she heard he was engaged, he corrected her by telling her that was not the truth, she then added, "We heard it from three people, so it must be true" (19). I don't think Daisy is the only one who would say that in her class, it shows another example of her naГЇveness and I believe this attitude and way of thinking will continue throughout the novel and possibly cause some Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Winston Smith Quote Analysis I think is quote shows how one can be betrayed by the one they love if put in a negative situation like what happened to Julia and Winston. The reason this quote is important is because it explaining that the concepts of love and being loyal to the one you love has no meaning when one is tortured. Also that at the end they will wear you out when they are in intolerable pain and they want it to be lessen and stop. Fursome this explanation, we can explain that when Winston Smith and Julia promised to each other that they wouldn't give their love away. But we saw the changed in both when they were captured and tortured with their worst fears. Also their changeses when both renounce their love for each other. To clarify this, torture or any fear Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Story Of An Hour Quote Analysis Bianca and I have the same reaction, confused, yet we have assumptions to make about the death of Mrs. Mallard in "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin. My reaction, personally, was that she felt such a great passion for her freedom once her husband died that she felt joy again, and that she was ready to get on with her own life. As Chopin says, "But she saw from that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely." (116). The personal reaction I happened to get from that quote is that she thought that she had years to do what she wanted now that she wasn't being held back and controlled by anyone. I feel as though she felt that her husband dying was a blessing in disguise to her. She felt like love couldn't Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. To Kill A Mockingbird Quote Analysis Who would destroy something that contained a heart filled only with good? The answer to that can be found in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee in an unjust time of unequal opportunity. The story follows the retelling of an 8–year–old girl named Jean Louis and those around her moral growth. She lives in Maycomb Alabama during the Great Depression. She has many chapters of growth including changing from afraid of a person to wanting to meet them, seeing people put on masks in order to avoid judgment, and watching an innocent man go to jail. Scout learns that to Kill a mockingbird is a sin for they have done no wrong, that people make that most meaningful mockingbirds, and the true significance of them because of the moral growth they bring about in people. It is seen as an opinion that the protagonists of the story share that to do harm to something that means you none such as a mockingbird is wrong. Atticus, Scout's dad, tells the kids of the sin after arming them with an air rifle capable of killing birds. "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy...but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to Kill a mockingbird (90). • 9. Inspiring Quotes Analysis Inspiring quotes are great because it causes us to see the world in a different and new perspective. Quotes inspire us by giving us hope and increases our confidence. It allows us to see the light at the end of the tunnel despite everything we may be going through. Life is based on quotes and we have the choice to change our lives for the better. One specific quote I find really inspiring is "Great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and small minds discuss people". Personally, the way I'm interpreting this quote is that people with great knowledge tries to make a difference in the world by discussing important issues. People with average knowledge make an effort to let people know their opinions on little events. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. The Crucible Quote Analysis In The Crucible, there were many important quotes that were said. Author Miller had a lot of highlighted scenes that made the play interesting. The play, in my eyes, is based on three important quotes. In the play, I believe it's mainly based around the thought of witchcraft. Firstly, many died because they were accused of committing witchery, or have falsely been seen with "the Devil." For example, on page 1134, Putnam states "Don't you understand it, sir. There is a murdering witch among us, bound to keep herself in the dark. What they will, you cannot blink it more." Putnam believes that because her seven babies were killed while being watched that someone was making plans with the devil. Even though there was no proof Putnam Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Meaning Of A Quote Analysis The quote is saying that with food we are not just buying and consuming the food there is more to the meaning. In the reading it states that, " people use food to speak with each other, to establish rules of behavior...and to reveal what you are." At the table one could order something around the price range as the other person to communicate that you are trying to be kind and conscious of the other person's money. Another example from the reading to discuss the meaning of the quote is, "Cuisines also prescribe the way food is to be eaten–a set of manners, codes of etiquette." The way you eat shows the behavior of food. If the person you are dining with is being polite and eating with their mouth closed, speaking after the food is chewed and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis Essay The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a novel about the so–called glamourful life of rich 1920 New Yorkers, although it symbolizes the entire United States. The book is narrated by a middle class man by the name of Nick Carraway. The events of the book are told as previous events that are recalled by Nick, who is trying to tell the tale of "The Great Gatsby". Nick who lives next door to Gatsby is from the midwest and believes he is very moral, as opposed to the rich citizens of New York who he believes are the opposite. By lounging around with people from both the East and West egg, Nick begins to learn more about these people and the truth about their lifestyles. Fitzgerald explains the theme of how money makes the morality of the social elite fade, through the use of quotes and symbolism....show more content... This quote shows how morality in everyone should be. The quote states that the rich or privileged should not be so advantageous of their powers as others do not have the wealth the rich do. This quote indicates that the addressed person must first, have some wealth, and second, indicates that people with 'advantages' (or the wealthy) tend to criticize the less fortunate. This fits in with the theme of how money or wealth creates a lack of morals, which then causes them to start criticizing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis Social–historical background The novel the great Gatsby is a story about the poor pursue power eventually fail. For Gatsby's tragic ending, the society has unshirkable responsibility. In that society, class distinction is clear, so Gatsby's death is is a predestined tragedy in that society. In fact, even though Gatsby had a luxury life by by squandering his illegally wealth, the deep–rooted social hierarchy still rejected him. In the chapter 8 of the book, one sentence shown this situation. "The identity of Jay Gatsby had broken up like glass against Tom's hard malice, and the long secret extravaganza was played out."(Fitzgerald,2008,P.190). Obviously, as the book says, Tom is the represent of the privileged class, he is rude and imperious. ...show more content... He is a dreamy man. If he low birth prompted him to "dream", his own character speed up his sad ending. From this novel, we can find such a man: integrity, kindness, he is considerate. In general, the character in this dog–eat–dog society, he struggle with others, itself is a tragedy. Gatsby didn't see the evil side of Daisy, he thinks Daisy is well brought up and well cultured, noble and generous woman. He took her as his dream of a part of life, he continued to pursue her. In fact, he mistakenly took Daisy as his ideal woman, which has increased the tragic color of the story. If Gatsby can treat Daisy objectively and rationally, he won't get such a tragic end. But he was not seriously thought about his dream, he just pursue his dream depend on his intuition. Another important character is Gatsby's self–confidence. He is a very unconfident man but he always show his best side. We can found in many descriptions of the novel. Apparently Gatsby's personality is not what people can see from the outside. The impression that Gatsby left to others is not himself, is his material affluence. In this story, Gatsby was shaped as a great man. Seen from the outside, he is handsome, confident and rich. In fact, he is a rich man, but he had no confidence and self–respect. He want to get people's respect and love in any way rather than his personality. So Gatsby always showing off his wealth rather than his own personality Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Assignment 1: Quote Analysis The way the world is surrounded by technology, not being able to understand technology is difficult but not "death in life". Today, almost anything on paper is easily accessed on a laptop or smartphone. However, if you're technologically illiterate, you still have access to everything on paper, you just may have to look harder for it. In the text, Carole says "Now I can read, I can read books, anything. I can write. In English and French." When I read that quote, I think of Carole's troubles when learning to read on paper, now she has to learn all over again on a laptop. Personally, I find it very hard to read off of a smartboard or laptop and I can only think of the struggles coming Carole's way in the 21st century. • 15. The Great Gatsby Quote Analysis Many stories and novels usually interest us because they show you how life can really be and the more you read into it, the more you feel you can relate to it. In F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby" many of the characters have their flaws which reels in the reader even more. This novel shows how some characters have gone through some things to be where they are now. The Great Gatsby relates to the American Dream in certain things such as luxury, ambition, love affairs and more. Author Fareed Zakaria opines regarding the so called American Dream, noting how his perspective completely changed after immigrating from India to be able to attend college. Author Zakaria realized that it wasn't much like India. He realized more contentment,...show more content... This usually calls a girls attention more than a guy because of the way they see it and how they'd put themselves in that situation and how they would weigh out things differently than the characters in the novel. Author Tim Stanley used a quote that can well relate to the Great Gatsby and the American Dream. The quote says, "You have no right to question him. A good wife knows her place"(Stanley). Now this quote can be connected to the Great Gatsby because of the way Jordan Baker lets Nick Carraway know about Tom Buchanan's secret mistress. Daisy pretty much knew about Tom Buchanan's affair but never payed much attention because she was basically having an affair as well. Daisy was having a secret relationship with the father of her daughter, Jay Gatsby. Stanley then used another quote who then related to not Daisy, but to Myrtle Wilson. This quotes seems like it's trying to represent a sad married woman who no longer lives in happiness and how She lay beside her husband at night –– she was afraid to ask herself the silent question.. "Is that all?"(Stanley). This takes us back to where Myrtle broke down about how George wasn't "fit to lick her shoe"(page 29, The Great Gatsby). Myrtle explained how George had even borrowed somebody's best suit for their wedding day. Now this would definitely catch a girl's attention and possibly start an argument because not all women would like to live unhappy but then again, why marry him if you don't know him well enough or just want him for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Writing A Quote Analysis The letter grade I have given myself is a B. I believe I am a good writer, but when it comes to small details, there is improvement needed. When writing any essay, I must be organized. When it writing an essay reviewing a book, flash cards are must. I have my quote on one side and then my explanation and transition on the other. I do this for every quote so when it is time for my rough draft to be put together, most of the work is finished; I just have to put them together as numbered. In my senior year of high school, I did an essay on Robert McMcrumb's The Story of English. I had so many quotes that I had to pick certain ones that were the most important. In my health class, we were asked to write a story about our middle school years. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Hamlet Quote Analysis "To be or not to be–" still one of the greatest quotes today. Before even reading, or knowing of Shakespeare's Hamlet, odds are you had heard the phrase before. But, what does this quote mean? What this quote showcases is a major theme to come up again and again throughout this play, seen with Hamlet through his most inner thoughts. These themes occur again with Claudius and Laertes nearing the end of the play. What these characters, and that quote, show is that preoccupation with death is a major theme in the play Hamlet, as it is seen constantly within Hamlet, Claudius, and Laertes, as well as nearly in every other single character. One of the saddest truths in life is that it will always end in death. We see death showcased in many ways...show more content... Secondly, looking at Claudius and Laertes it becomes apparent how truly consumed they become with death– specifically, Hamlet's death. Throughout the seventh scene of Act IV, we see Claudius and Laertes together, and Claudius brings up his plan to ultimately kill Hamlet. Not only do the two plan exactly how this murder will go down, and how they will manage to get away with it, but Claudius follows with, "therefore this project / Should have a back or second that might hold / If this should blast in proof." (IV, vii, 152–154) The two have their plan, however they also felt the need to create a backup plan just in case their original plot does not follow through. With this, we are able to see how truly determined they are to ensure Hamlet dies. This thought of Claudius' is continued with, "A sword unbated, and in a pass of practice / Requite him for your father." (IV, vii, 138–139), and with that, allowing Laertes to avenge his father's death. This shows how Claudius thinks, as he suggests a fight fire with fire type of approach to this. His resolution to death is more death, and with that Laertes agrees. • 18. Mark Twain: Quote Analysis "All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure" (Twain). This quote is from Mark Twain. He is a very famous author who has written such classics as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Mark Twain's real name is Samuel Clemens, and was known to have experienced different many things in his lifetime. He has worked as a miner, printer, river pilot, and more (www.cmgww.com). This tells us that he must have known many things, and possibly how he came up with this quote. To me, this quote means that as long as you do what you want and follow your dreams, they will come true. I can somewhat relate to this because I am both cautious and careful at some things I do, and lazy and uncaring about others. So far, I have gotten some sort of success from how I behave, but sometimes it doesn't work out and I regret it. This most likely relates to Mark Twain himself because of what he has done in his life, and the fact that this is his quote....show more content... This been successful in the aspect of not embarrassing myself, but not so much in talking to others because it has given me more of an edge about it. These things sometimes include school things such as grades, and I sometimes don't tell my parents because I think I will get in trouble, but they find out anyway and I end up getting in more trouble because I didn't tell Get more content on HelpWriting.net
