usually made of woven wool or synthetic
fibers, especially one covering the entire
surface of the floor.
• A carpet is a textile floor covering
consisting of an upper layer of "pile"
attached to a backing. The pile is
generally either made from wool or a
man made fibre such as polypropylene,
nylon or polyester.

coverings were present during the Neolithic
Age (7000 BC).
• They were thickly knotted to protect the
people from adverse climatic conditions.

carpet is the "Pazyryk

world today was found in
southern Siberia in 1949.
5. CARPET IN ISLAMIC WORLD
• The first evidence of carpet from the Muslim
world is from Persia, which is the Pazyryk

what was to become later a part of the
Muslim World.
