2. RESUME OF WORKING EXPERIENCE
In July 1995, I joined the chartering department of Thesarco Shipping Co S.A. involved
in postfixtures, freight collection, disbursement accounts P&I and FD&D matters. From
January 96 I took over the claims department dealing with cargo and crew claims charter
party disputes and the vessels P&I and FD&D accounts.
In December 1998I joined the Insurance & Claims Department of Pacific & Atlantic
Corporation, a Management company with a fleet of forty one (41) vessels under
management consisted of multi purpose, bulk carriers and container vessels. I dealt with
all P&I aspects, cargo claims, charter party disputes, Bills of Lading, Letters of
Indemnity, surveys surveys etc being responsible for about 1/3 of the company’s fleet.
From June 2001 I held the position of deputy Insurance & Claims Manager supervising
four claim handlers apart from my duties towards the vessels assigned to me.
In November 2001 I joined Azure Services Inc, a newly established management
company, managing seven (7) product tankers mainly trading in West Africa. My duties
involved postfixtures and freight collection matters and cargo, demurrage and hull
claims.
From January 2002 untril April 2103 I worked with DND Management Inc., a ship
management company managing a fleet of handymax and panamax bulk carriers being
in charge of the Insurance & Claims department. My duties also involved day-to-day
commercial operations, assisting the Operations Manager in charter party matters,
postfixtures and freight collection. Further I handled the postfixtures of the sale and
purchase of vessels assisting the Managing Director and managing the cases with
instructed lawyers for the legal aspect, financing, registration etc.
From April 2103 to Sept 2014 I offered my consultancy and advisory services to
Tsangaris Bros Ltd, a shipmanagement company managing a fleet of four (4) modern
handy size bulk carriers, being involved in insurance, claims, day-to-day commercial
operations and chartering of the vessels. At the same time I handled claims for other
shipmanagement companies on a case by case basis.
In the past years I got actively involved and handled a number of claims from simple
demurrage claims to very complicated cases involving Hull and Machinery, P&I and
FD&D aspects. I have attended fifteen hearings in a New York arbitration and twice a
three days hearing in London arbitration the latter concerning a complex Newbuilding
dispute.
I sit closely to the Operations and Chartering Departments and provide immediate
guidance on problems that arise in the day-to-day commercial operations of the vessels
and offering legally sound commercial resolutions to disputes prior those becoming
claims. I am also often involved in rewriting charter party clauses and assisting the
chartering brokers in their negotiations for optimum fixing terms. Upto date I have
handled thirty seven Sale & Purchase cases including a new-building project for four
handy size bulk carriers.
