A Chartered Geologist with over 40 years of experience in the oil industry. Experienced
manager of both geoscience projects, and integrated projects involving geoscience,
engineering and economics. All-round geologist with exploration and development
background. Experience in well, field, asset, licence and basin evaluation. Extensive
world-wide experience in a variety of geological settings.

Project Manager and senior geologist in a series of studies undertaken for the UK
Government (DTI & DECC) - including regional aquifer study of Eocene to Chalk in the
CNS, and assessment of yet-to-find HPHT resources in UK North Sea. Several other

SASOL PETROLEUM JOHANNESBURG 1992-1996
Chief Geologist
Principal tasks included co-ordination of six-man technical group, establishing
procedures for evaluations, farm-in evaluations, prospect generation, operations, and
fiscal and technical review of 53 countries to establish new venture strategy.
Project leader for Sasol operated Licence 2012, offshore Namibia, and 2nd Round
studies. Supervision of the block’s evaluation, including regional geology, structural
and stratigraphic evaluation, sequence stratigraphy studies, prospect and well location
selection, pre- and post-well reports, and all geological operations.
Project leader for technical and economic evaluation of a farm-in opportunity, offshore
Congo resulting in a farm-in. Drilling resulted in Sasol’s first commercial oil discoveries
with the initial three wells.
Integrated evaluation of resources and development of the Pande Gas Field, and study
of further prospectivity in Mozambique. Study incorporated reservoir zonation and
correlation, seismic structure and attribute mapping, log analysis and reservoir
estimation and categorisation.
Evaluation of Algerian licence 237/246 in Ghadames Basin (positive recommendation
to farm-in accepted).
Detailed evaluations of opportunities in Argentina, Angola, Tunisia, Poland, Gabon,
Indonesia, Egypt, Nigeria, and Australia.
