on lose their sight gradually, or born blind,
then lose their hearing gradually.
They don’t necessarily lose their hearing or sight completely.

4. There is another form of Deafblind called Usher’s Syndrome.
The deaf person will have a condition called Retina Pigmentosa
(RP) where some part of their visual frame is unclear and
unfortunately there is no cure.
The pictures below will help you understand the problems faced
by people with Usher’s. Usually this condition develops before
the age of 18 but can sometimes gradually worsen with age.
Doctor’s recommend pregnant women who have Usher’s
Syndrome to opt for a caesarean to deliver their baby. This is to
avoid straining their eyes while giving birth, risking their eyesight
deteriorating.

8. One of the ways to further understand the affects of
Usher’s Syndrome is to rub Vaseline on a pair of glasses.
Wear them for an hour walking around your home and try
doing your usual day-to-day activities. Write a list of how
you felt.
