Pre-weld treating, post-weld treating, including communicating the specific safety issues related
to pre and PWHT operations with welders working on the job. Followed PWHT parameters and applicable
welding codes. Attach heaters to piping using banding tools and fiber tape. Connect heaters and
thermocouples to heat-treating console using cable sets and splitters. Set-up and operate the heat-
treating console, programmer, controllers, and recorder. Read recorder strip charts to determine
temperatures, soak time, rise, and fall rates. Trouble-shoot preheat and PWHT by recognizing open
circuits, shorted circuits, reversed polarity, inoperable heater elements, and cross-controlling circuits.
