Tourism industry is important for the benefits it brings
and due to its role as a commercial activity that
creates demand and growth for many more
industries. Tourism not only contributes towards
more economic activities but also generates more
employment, revenues and play a significant role in
development.
It is an activity, it is an industry and an important
growth driver for a country, its economy and also for
its social progress and monitoring. Tourism no doubt
brings with it tremendous economic value for a
country. It touches and impacts several industries
directly and many more indirectly through tourism
spend. Tourism is one of the important sources of
employment generation and foreign exchange
earnings for a country. Due to all this tourism gains
much more economic importance for any country.
3. IBEF REPORT
• It is among the fastest growing states in
the country. At current prices, the Gross
State Domestic Product (GSDP) of
Madhya Pradesh for 2019-20 was Rs 8.26
trillion (US$ 118.18 billion). Between
2011-12 and 2019-20, the CAGR growth
rate (in rupee terms) of the state’s GSDP
was 12.78 per cent. The Net State
Domestic Product (NSDP) grew at a
CAGR of around 14.57 per cent between
2011-12 and 2017-18 to reach Rs 6.39
trillion (US$ 99.11 billion).
• Madhya Pradesh is rich in natural
resources - fuels, minerals, agriculture
and biodiversity. It is also the sole
diamond producing state in the country.
Diamond production in the state stood at
8,039 carats during April-July 2018.

The only hill station and the highest point in Madhya Pradesh,
Pachmarhi is often known as "Satpura ki Rani" or the "Queen of
the Satpura Range". Situated at an altitude of 1,067 metres, the
picturesque town is a part of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, home

Bandhavgarh National Park Tourism
The Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh is a
beautiful forest with wildlife and vegetation in abundance.
Formerly a hunting ground for the Maharajas of Rewa, this
National Park is world-renowned as a tiger reserve.
KANHA NATIONAL PARK
A delightful town situated in the district of Mandla, Kanha
National park is the haven of an exceptionally wide variety
of wild animals, including the majestic creature tiger.

• Located in Madhya Pradesh, the Buddhist monuments of
Sanchi are one of the oldest stone structures in India.
Designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO, the Great
Stupa was installed in the 3rd century BC by Emperor Ashoka
of the Mauryan dynasty. The sculptures and monuments
present at the site are a fine example of the development of
Buddhist art and architecture. The stupa sits atop a hill in
Sanchi, 46 km from the city of Bhopal.
• Sanchi is known for its ancient Stupas, monasteries, the
Ashoka Pillar, Toranas or ornate gateways with intricate
carvings and other remnants of the rich Buddhist culture which
date back to the 3rd century B. C. It is one of the most
important places for Buddhist pilgrimage and pilgrims from
around the world visit this place.

Ujjain
Ujjain, considered to be one of the holiest cities of India, is an
ancient city situated on the eastern bank of the Shipra River in the
Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain is one of the four sites for
the Kumbh Mela, the largest peace gathering on the planet that
attracts 100 million people to the festival.
INDORE
Indore is the most populous city of Madhya Pradesh. The charm of
this city lies in its rich cultural heritage which has been preserved
over centuries and along with the hints of urbanisation.
The city of Indore gets its name from Indreshwar Mahadev temple. It
is believed that Lord Indra meditated on this land and led Swami
Indrapuri to establish this temple.

Orchha is a historical town located on the banks of river Betwa
in Madhya Pradesh, known for its grand palaces, and intricately
carved temples. Famous as the city of palaces, it is world-
renowned for the classic mural paintings, frescos and Chhatris
(cenotaphs) that were constructed to commemorate the
Bundela rulers. Orchha's old-world charm casts a spell on
tourists from all around the world.
Founded in 1501 by Bundela Rajput Chief, Orchha literally
means 'a hidden place'. It was the capital of one of the most
powerful dynasties to ever rule in India- the Bundelas. The
major attractions in Orchha include Ram Raja Temple (the only
place where Lord Ram is worshipped both as a God and a
king), Laxmi Narayan Temple (known for its unique architecture
which is a melange of a fort and a temple), and the Jahangir
Mahal (built in hour of Mughal emperor Jahangir).
