6. Simple Present.
◉To express a habitual recurrent action.
Ex. I come by bus. He is a driver.
◉To express what happens at the time of
speaking. Ex. See how well Rohit plays. He drives truck
◉To express a previously arranged plan- to
represent a future action when its futurity
is clear from the context. Ex. We are in Mumbai
next week.
◉To convey instruction. Ex. Keep quiet.
◉For eternal truth. Ex. Change is the only thing which
cannot be changed.

8. Present Continuous.
◉To represent the action that is going on at
the time of speaking. Ex. I am teaching.
◉To indicate a future action (in colloquial sense.)
Ex I am going to teach grammar on Tuesday.
◉When a situation or an activity is
temporary. Ex My brother is waiting outside.
◉The verbs which are not used in the
continuous Tense. Senses- see, hear, smell,
Emotion – like, think, adore, Thinking – know, mean,
remember.

◉To indicate completed activities in the
immediate past. ex. I have cut my finger
◉Action, time of which is not given. Ex Have
you seen Tenet? – Have you read Hamlet?
◉To describe the past events for their
impact in the present. – I have finished my
homework.
◉For actions started in the past and present
up to present
He has been to my home only once.
We have worked on AI since 1980s.
11. Present Perfect Continuous.
◉Action began in the past and is still
continuing.
- Nadal has been playing since six in the
morning.
◉Already finished action- but to emphasise
as an explanation.- Colourful Clothes- I
have been painting.
Ex It has been raining.

◉A definite action completed in the past at
a known time. Ex. The metro train arrived before five
minutes.
◉To indicate that an action completed at
some place. Ex. I ate Jalebi at Lucknow.
◉For a completed action that took place
over a certain period of time. Ex. Kalidas wrote
Abhigyanshakuntalam.
◉To express some habitual action in the
past. Ex. My father walked for his studies.
14. Past Continuous.
◉To show an action being performed
sometime in the past.
Ex. The boy was playing video game all the
time.
15. Past Perfect
◉To describe an action completed before
certain moment in the past. – Before I
reached the station, the train had already
gone.
16. Past Perfect Continuous
◉For an action began before a certain point
in the past and continued up to that time.
Ex. Yesterday morning when I woke up- Sun
was shining but the ground was wet. It had
been raining whole night.
17. Future Perfect
◉To talk about action which will be
completed by a certain time in future. Ex. I
will have finished my homework by next
Sunday.
◉Audience is standing in the queue. (Now)
◉They will be watching movie. (9:30)
◉The film will have finished . (1:00)
