ities, to ENCOURAGE them to continue along this line, and to
INSPIRE others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment;
To UNITE outstanding fraternity men and women to create an
organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the insti-
tution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs;
ToBRINGTOGETHERmembersofthefaculty,alumni,andstudent
members of the institution’s fraternities and sororities on a basis
of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness;

BENEFITS OF GREEK LIFE
• Leadership: Greek organizations
provide ample opportunities for students
to gain leadership skills and abilities.
Greek-letter organizations are essentially
self-governing communities where committee
members and chapter officers are responsible
for the operation of the chapter.
• Service & Philanthropy: Each
semester Greek members participate in a wide
variety of community service projects and
philanthropic events. Because our mission
includes a commitment of service to humani-
ty, the community outreach opportunities for
members of our Greek Community are vast.
• Networking: Greek alumni
organizations can provide students with a
strong system of support even after college.
Many chapters provide connections within
the community through jobs and internships.
This networking opens doors to students for
postÐcollege opportunities all around the
nation and world.
• Sisterhood & Brotherhood:
Sisterhood/Brotherhood is more than T-shirts
jackets, meetings, and socials. Sisterhood &
Brotherhood offers a sense of belonging,
the feeling of great friends respecting you
for your individuality, the feeling of
knowing that you can count on your sisters &
brothersinthegoodtimesaswellasinthebad.
Membership in a fraternity/sorority does
not end with graduation, but is a lifelong
commitment. Your chapter is a home away
from home, presenting members with venues
to socialize in, networks of support of old-
er members, and countless opportunities to
make new friends.
Dear Prospective Student,
On behalf of the Office of Greek Affairs, we would like to welcome you to
Rowan University. We would like to encourage you to discover our fraterni-
ty and sorority community while enrolled at the University. Greek organiza-
tions have been a part of the Rowan University community since 1968; we
currently recognize over 28 Greek-letter organizations with membership of approx-
imately 700 students.
The mission of the Greek community at Rowan University is to encourage
and promote intellectual curiosity through academic achievement and to develop
the personal and social skills of students by providing leadership opportunities
through self-governance. In addition, the Greek community strives to promote
service through the University’s co-curricular programs and through community
involvement.
Fraternity and sorority membership can offer many great opportunities to enhance
your student’s experience while at Rowan University. Scholarship, service to others,
leadership, networking and friendship are among the many qualities that have at-
tracted students to join Greek-letter organizations.
We also would like to inform you of the expectations we have for our Greek
organizations at the University. Rowan University does not tolerate hazing or
abuse in our fraternities or sororities. Greek life is certainly a source of pride at
Rowan University and every chapter has something unique to offer. The
opportunities for meaningful campus relationships and involvement within the
Greek community are endless. All members of the Greek community are challenged
to reach their personal best. We look forward to your involvement in becoming a part
of our Greek community!
Please do not hesitate to contact Kelvin Rodriguez, Coordinator of Greek
Affairs, at (856) 256-4296 or rodriguezk@rowan.edu with any information or
questions. Or visit our website at www.rowan.edu/greeklife.
Sincerely,
The Office of Greek Affairs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: What is a Fraternity or Sorority?
A: A fraternity or sorority is a group of men or women formed by a brotherhood or sisterhood and common
goals and aspirations who make a commitment to each other for life. The members that form a fraternity or
sorority share their efforts, friendship and knowledge. Together these members learn, grow and make the
fraternity or sorority, commonly called a Greek organization, stronger. Their common experience builds ties
that last a lifetime.
Q: Do Greek organizations take up a lot of time?
A: While membership does require a time commitment, Greeks are known for balancing their time between
academics, clubs/organizations, jobs, family and friends. The time management skills that are learned from
being part of a Greek organization are invaluable!
Q: Who is eligible to participate in recruitment/intake?
A: Joining a Greek social organization without fully complying with all University requirements’
regarding eligibility is strictly prohibited. Both the individual student and the organization will be subject to
disciplinary action for new membership violations. The following requirements pertain to students joining
either recognized or unrecognized Greek social organizations. Full-time matriculated students are eligible
for new membership when they have:
· Attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and have earned at least 12 credits towards graduation.
· Completed all Basic Skills classes (if applicable).
· Filled out and submitted the “New Member Registration Form” to the Office of Greek Affairs.
· Filled out and submitted the “Information on Indemnification and Hazing for all Greek New
Members Form” to the Office of Greek Affairs.
· Completion of the “New Member Workshop” presented by the Office of Greek Affairs.
Please Note: First semester transfer students will be required to submit an official transcript from their previous institution to verify
cumulative GPA eligibility. Students matriculating through the Educational Opportunity Fund/Maximizing Academic Potential program
must complete 24 college level credits and seek the approval of their counselor prior to joining a Greek-letter organization.
Q: Will my academics be compromised by joining a Greek organization?
A: On the contrary, a central mission of all Greek organizations is academic excellence. Fraternities
and sororities understand that their members are students first and foremost. All chapters have
scholarship programs that may include required study hours, tutoring, scholarships and other recognitions
for academic success.
Q: Is there a financial cost to joining Greek Life?
A: Like any opportunity for involvement in college, there is a financial commitment associated
with joining a fraternity or sorority. The costs go toward the Inter/National fees, chapter operating
expenses, and social functions. Financial obligations differ among individual chapters. New members can
expect to pay higher dues their first semester than in subsequent ones for one time initiation/application
fees. There are payment plans available for students, as well as scholarships within the individual chap-
ters. While you are participating in the recruitment process, make sure that you ask about the financial
obligations of membership.
Q: What is recruitment/intake?
Recruitment/intake is the time when Greek organizations seek and recruit new members. Students have
the opportunity to get to know the different groups and see what each has to offer. Also during this time,
potential new members go through a mutual selection process to determine which organization they will
join. Membership Intake is the processes that NPHC and cultural-based organizations utilize to select,
educate, and initiate new members.
HOW AND WHEN TO JOIN
FIRST: BE SURE YOU ARE ACADEMICALLY ELIGIBLE
Joining a Greek social organization without fully complying with all
University requirements’ regarding eligibility is strictly prohibited. Both
the individual student and the organization will be subject to disci-
plinary action for new membership violations. The following require-
ments pertain to students joining either recognized or unrecognized
Greek social organizations. Full-time matriculated students are eligible
for new membership when they have:
• Attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and have earned at
least 12 credits towards graduation.
• Completed all Basic Skills classes (if applicable).
• Filled out and submitted the “New Member Registration Form” to
the Office of Greek Affairs.
• Filled out and submitted the “Information on Indemnification and
Hazing for all Greek New Members Form” to the Office of Greek Af-
fairs.
• Completion of the “New Member Workshop” presented by the Of-
fice of Greek Affairs.
Please Note: First semester transfer students will be required to submit
an official transcript from their previous institution to verify cumulative
GPA eligibility. Students matriculating through the Educational Oppor-
tunity Fund/Maximizing Academic Potential program must complete 24
college level credits and seek the approval of their counselor prior to
joining a Greek-letter organization.
SECOND: START YOUR RESEARCH
Learn more about the chapters by visiting the chapters’ web pages that
are listed in the Chapter Directory section on www.rowan.edu/greeklife.
Attend Meet the Brothers, Sorority Preview Night, Meet the Greeks, and
the SGA Organization Fair to learn more about the Recruitment/intake
process which are held in the beginning of every semester. Please be
sure to read the Information on Indemnification Clause and Hazing for
all New Greek Members which can be found on the Greek Affairs web-
page.
THIRD: ATTEND CHAPTER EVENTS
Recruitment and Intake events will be advertised via Social Media,
flyers on campus and at tabling events in the Student Center. Attend
chapter programs to learn more about the organization and meet the
current members. Visit as many chapters as possible, and don’t hesi-
tate to ask questions, so that you know you’ve made the right choice.

The purpose of Order of Omega is: To RECOGNIZE those fraternity men and women who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activ- ities, to ENCOURAGE them to continue along this line, and to INSPIRE others to strive for similar conspicuous attainment; To UNITE outstanding fraternity men and women to create an organization which will help to mold the sentiment of the insti- tution on questions of local and intercollegiate fraternity affairs; ToBRINGTOGETHERmembersofthefaculty, alumni, andstudent members of the institution’s fraternities and sororities on a basis of mutual interest, understanding and helpfulness; To help CREATE an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines and to help work out solutions. Members must maintain a 3.1 GPA, complete 1 service project per semester, and complete 1 fundraiser per semester. BENEFITS OF GREEK LIFE • Leadership: Greek organizations provide ample opportunities for students to gain leadership skills and abilities. Greek-letter organizations are essentially self-governing communities where committee members and chapter officers are responsible for the operation of the chapter. • Service & Philanthropy: Each semester Greek members participate in a wide variety of community service projects and philanthropic events. Because our mission includes a commitment of service to humani- ty, the community outreach opportunities for members of our Greek Community are vast. • Networking: Greek alumni organizations can provide students with a strong system of support even after college. Many chapters provide connections within the community through jobs and internships. This networking opens doors to students for postÐcollege opportunities all around the nation and world. • Sisterhood & Brotherhood: Sisterhood/Brotherhood is more than T-shirts jackets, meetings, and socials. Sisterhood & Brotherhood offers a sense of belonging, the feeling of great friends respecting you for your individuality, the feeling of knowing that you can count on your sisters & brothersinthegoodtimesaswellasinthebad. Membership in a fraternity/sorority does not end with graduation, but is a lifelong commitment. Your chapter is a home away from home, presenting members with venues to socialize in, networks of support of old- er members, and countless opportunities to make new friends. Dear Prospective Student, On behalf of the Office of Greek Affairs, we would like to welcome you to Rowan University. We would like to encourage you to discover our fraterni- ty and sorority community while enrolled at the University. Greek organiza- tions have been a part of the Rowan University community since 1968; we currently recognize over 28 Greek-letter organizations with membership of approx- imately 700 students. The mission of the Greek community at Rowan University is to encourage and promote intellectual curiosity through academic achievement and to develop the personal and social skills of students by providing leadership opportunities through self-governance. In addition, the Greek community strives to promote service through the University’s co-curricular programs and through community involvement. Fraternity and sorority membership can offer many great opportunities to enhance your student’s experience while at Rowan University. Scholarship, service to others, leadership, networking and friendship are among the many qualities that have at- tracted students to join Greek-letter organizations. We also would like to inform you of the expectations we have for our Greek organizations at the University. Rowan University does not tolerate hazing or abuse in our fraternities or sororities. Greek life is certainly a source of pride at Rowan University and every chapter has something unique to offer. The opportunities for meaningful campus relationships and involvement within the Greek community are endless. All members of the Greek community are challenged to reach their personal best. We look forward to your involvement in becoming a part of our Greek community! Please do not hesitate to contact Kelvin Rodriguez, Coordinator of Greek Affairs, at (856) 256-4296 or rodriguezk@rowan.edu with any information or questions. Or visit our website at www.rowan.edu/greeklife. Sincerely, The Office of Greek Affairs FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: What is a Fraternity or Sorority? A: A fraternity or sorority is a group of men or women formed by a brotherhood or sisterhood and common goals and aspirations who make a commitment to each other for life. The members that form a fraternity or sorority share their efforts, friendship and knowledge. Together these members learn, grow and make the fraternity or sorority, commonly called a Greek organization, stronger. Their common experience builds ties that last a lifetime. Q: Do Greek organizations take up a lot of time? A: While membership does require a time commitment, Greeks are known for balancing their time between academics, clubs/organizations, jobs, family and friends. The time management skills that are learned from being part of a Greek organization are invaluable! Q: Who is eligible to participate in recruitment/intake? A: Joining a Greek social organization without fully complying with all University requirements’ regarding eligibility is strictly prohibited. Both the individual student and the organization will be subject to disciplinary action for new membership violations. The following requirements pertain to students joining either recognized or unrecognized Greek social organizations. Full-time matriculated students are eligible for new membership when they have: · Attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and have earned at least 12 credits towards graduation. · Completed all Basic Skills classes (if applicable). · Filled out and submitted the “New Member Registration Form” to the Office of Greek Affairs. · Filled out and submitted the “Information on Indemnification and Hazing for all Greek New Members Form” to the Office of Greek Affairs. · Completion of the “New Member Workshop” presented by the Office of Greek Affairs. Please Note: First semester transfer students will be required to submit an official transcript from their previous institution to verify cumulative GPA eligibility. Students matriculating through the Educational Opportunity Fund/Maximizing Academic Potential program must complete 24 college level credits and seek the approval of their counselor prior to joining a Greek-letter organization. Q: Will my academics be compromised by joining a Greek organization? A: On the contrary, a central mission of all Greek organizations is academic excellence. Fraternities and sororities understand that their members are students first and foremost. All chapters have scholarship programs that may include required study hours, tutoring, scholarships and other recognitions for academic success. Q: Is there a financial cost to joining Greek Life? A: Like any opportunity for involvement in college, there is a financial commitment associated with joining a fraternity or sorority. The costs go toward the Inter/National fees, chapter operating expenses, and social functions. Financial obligations differ among individual chapters. New members can expect to pay higher dues their first semester than in subsequent ones for one time initiation/application fees. There are payment plans available for students, as well as scholarships within the individual chap- ters. While you are participating in the recruitment process, make sure that you ask about the financial obligations of membership. Q: What is recruitment/intake? Recruitment/intake is the time when Greek organizations seek and recruit new members. Students have the opportunity to get to know the different groups and see what each has to offer. Also during this time, potential new members go through a mutual selection process to determine which organization they will join. Membership Intake is the processes that NPHC and cultural-based organizations utilize to select, educate, and initiate new members. HOW AND WHEN TO JOIN FIRST: BE SURE YOU ARE ACADEMICALLY ELIGIBLE Joining a Greek social organization without fully complying with all University requirements’ regarding eligibility is strictly prohibited. Both the individual student and the organization will be subject to disci- plinary action for new membership violations. The following require- ments pertain to students joining either recognized or unrecognized Greek social organizations. Full-time matriculated students are eligible for new membership when they have: • Attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and have earned at least 12 credits towards graduation. • Completed all Basic Skills classes (if applicable). • Filled out and submitted the “New Member Registration Form” to the Office of Greek Affairs. • Filled out and submitted the “Information on Indemnification and Hazing for all Greek New Members Form” to the Office of Greek Af- fairs. • Completion of the “New Member Workshop” presented by the Of- fice of Greek Affairs. Please Note: First semester transfer students will be required to submit an official transcript from their previous institution to verify cumulative GPA eligibility. Students matriculating through the Educational Oppor- tunity Fund/Maximizing Academic Potential program must complete 24 college level credits and seek the approval of their counselor prior to joining a Greek-letter organization. SECOND: START YOUR RESEARCH Learn more about the chapters by visiting the chapters’ web pages that are listed in the Chapter Directory section on www.rowan.edu/greeklife. THIRD: ATTEND CHAPTER EVENTS Recruitment and Intake events will be advertised via Social Media, flyers on campus and at tabling events in the Student Center.
