GENERAL INFORMATION

The Hilti Account Tool gives the software administrator
an overview of all licenses that their company currently
has, and all respective users of these licenses.
Moreover, it allows the assignment of licenses to
colleagues in the same company (account).
The permission (license authorization) to use certain
applications can also be removed.
The Hilti Account Tool is only available online.

LICENSE METRICS
Web applications
• Named user (single, standalone, enterprise) = The user name is specified when the license is assigned, only the named user can access
the software at any given time.
• Multi user (floating) = In this approach, a number of licenses for a software application are shared among a larger number of users over
time. When an authorized user accesses the application access will be granted according to available seats.
Desktop applications
• Node locked (single) = A node-locked license is an encrypted "key" that is locked to a specific machine or dongle. The license is
uncounted, meaning that there can be an unlimited number of simultaneous runs (by any one user) on a given machine.
• Multi user (floating) = In this approach, a number of licenses for a software application are shared among a larger number of users over
time. When an authorized user wishes to run the application, they request a license from a central license server online.

After you have clicked on the link you are presented
with a Log in or Register screen.
Here you can use your Hilti Online credentials
(combination of email address + password).
Then click on Log In.

After successful login to Hilti Account Tool you can
start managing your licenses.
Click on the Software Management section.
If the Software Management menu does not appear,
you might be logged in to a different country or
different account.
To switch to the right country/account, click on the top
right menu (name of user & name of company –
country). Select Change company to navigate back to
select your country and, later on, select the account to
which you want to login (only relevant in case you are
a contact to more than one company).

You are now in the Software Management section.
Now, you can see the specific application(s) and
license groups, which give access to the software.
“License Group” refers to a set of licenses
purchased within the same SAP account. Most
users will see only one license group.
Please click on the relevant license group that
you want to administer.

select the My Software section.
In this menu, you can see all licenses that you
are entitled to use.
Simply click on the relevant license.

After picking your license group in the menu Software
Management you can search for the colleague who you want
to assign a license to: you can scroll down the list or, simply
use the search field located at the top left.
Not every colleague at your company will be present in HAT,
and if they’re not present you will have to add them in.
For example if you search for the person ”John“ and the user
is not found in the list you can click on Add User.

After clicking Add User, insert the user information,
then click on the Save button. Confirm the creation of
the contact with a click on Ok.
• If the email is already registered with Hilti then
the contact will be directly added in HAT and
you will be returned to user management.
• If the email is not registered with Hilti then
contact details need to be entered through the
screen to the right. Upon creation the contact is
added to HAT and you will be returned to user
management.
Note: In case of an error, double check that you filled in
the required fields, like Title and Position.

Now the newly created user will appear in the list of
users and is ready for license assignment.
After assignment, HAT will show a blue label Invitation
sent if that user is not yet registered in Hilti systems
and they will receive an email with the link to the
software. The user will be requested to register with
Hilti before using the assigned license.

Use the search box to identify if the user already
exists.
When the user you want to add is on the list, assign
the license by clicking the box in the grid.
When the user you want to add is not on the list,
please follow the steps described on page 13.

Remember to always save the changes you want to
make to the software license with the Save button.

Then confirm the changes you would like to make
(e.g. 1 new license assigned) by clicking on Yes.

The authorized users can be identified by a
checkmark next to their name.
Here, you can easily remove the user from the
license and in this way remove access to the
software for that user.
Hovering your mouse over a checkmark will turn it
into an X. Click on X and then confirm the removal
by clicking on the Save button.

HOW CAN THE CUSTOMER CANCEL THE ACCESS TO
PROFIS ENGINEERING SOFTWARE FOR A USER CONTACT?
1. It is important to note that the user cannot be deleted from the HAT account, he/she can only be unassigned the
license in HAT as a mandatory step to cancel access to the software.
2. Steps to be performed to cancel access to PROFIS Engineering:
• Login to HAT with your HOL credentials and enter the license group
• Unassign the license in grid (by un-checking the seat) and save
• When access to HAT and PE subscription is terminated and the user attempts to access PE, they will see a
message saying they are in a Trial license (if they previously had a Trial and it has expired, they will be put into PE
Standard).

• On the email the user must click on the Let‘s Go button.
Desktop applications
• On the email the user must click on Download Desktop
Software.
• Same email contains the activation key which is required
to activate the software.

• The new user must now use their Hilti Online
credentials (email address and password) and click
on Login.
• After logging in the user can start working with the
software.
Desktop applications
• After downloading and installing the software, the
new user must now use their Hilti Online credentials
(email address and password) and click on Login.
• After logging in the user has to enter the activation
key.
Note: If the user does not have his personal Hilti Online
credentials yet, he must click on Register (more on the
next slide)

To register, the user must provide his/her email address
(email address where the user received the license
email).
A password needs to be created (based on security
requirements) and finally, the user should agree with the
general Terms & Conditions.
Once all the information has been provided, the user should
click on Register Now.

After registering on Hilti Online the user will
receive a verification email.
The new user must click on the Activate account
and proceed to activate the account. They will be
presented with the last step of the registration.

The new user uses his new Hilti Online credentials and
clicks on the Log in.
The user can now use the software and start working!
Note: The registration process needs to be done only once!
The Hilti Online credentials can now be used for all Hilti

Floating license seats will be consumed on login. They
can be released by two ways:
• A floating license seat can be manually released
when you log out of the software.
• A floating license seat is also automatically released
after an hour of usage and is available for “reuse”

• Software must be installed and activated on all the computers that will use the software.
• The activation process (inserting the activation key) will be done only one time.
• The log in process (using the Hilti ID) will occur as required with the option to enable the software to remember the credentials. The
credentials are stored for 30 days.
• Floating license seats are valid for one hour of usage. If you are still using the software the license will be automatically extended for
another hour.
• Additionally, the floating license can be manually released if you manually log out of the software.

SINGLE USER LICENSE USAGE – DESKTOP APPLICATIONS
• For single user license, the software can be activated only on one device.
• In order to use the software on another device, user must first release the activation key from the computer.
This can be done directly from the software (instructions in the software).
• The log in and activation process will be done only once, unless the activation key is released from the
computer.
• The devices on which the license has been activated will be shown in the Hilti Account Tool at the bottom of
the list.

Engineering for the first time, converting their pending status into an actual user.

3. If a user is assigned to several Standard, Single, or Enterprise licenses at the same time, then removing one of
these assignments can cause some or all assignments to be lost. Customers experiencing this will have to re-add
lost assignments.
