Introduction - A Brief
History
Initially in the 1960’s the computer was created by RAND for networking in order to
undergo national research and development projects. Before it was used casually, the
computer was mainly utilised by scientists in research institutes and the military until the
late 1980’s, where the model started to rapidly be incorporated into schools and libraries.
Nowadays the world is very familiar and reliant on the internet which has become easily
accessible and a main factor in our daily lives. As a result it has influenced new features such
as quick retrieval of information, ecommerce and diverse forms of communication.

The dominating smartphone device has become an essential necessity in this
day and age to an extent that more than half of british people use the
smartphone to access the internet. (Statista, 2019) In recent years the desktop
computers are still relevant and essential but they are also slowly decreasing in
popularity as laptops and tablets have become more convenient and
favourable.

newer devices have been
incorporated in the world of
technology, the ecommerce
world has thrived as a result.
Consumers have become reliant
towards online shopping to a
degree that its success and
demand for ecommerce stores
like Amazon has influenced
more online only accessible
stores to flourish despite
starting up in the late 2000’s like
Pretty Little thing, Fashion nova.
As a result there has also been a
decline or pressure in the
success of physical stores such
as House of Fraser.
